According to the comments, cancelling the GS is a pain requiring registered post etc

Still struggling. I've noticed that the new levels always seem to be thrown out with little testing. Then they return after a few weeks and adjust them following complaints. There is one on dreamworld that has a glitch making it impossible.

Out of curiosity, which is that dreamworld level please :D

Suggestions please as to what we can do with ourselves in the Lake District midweek in March – 2 adults with a small budget

What I usually do when we are planning a few days away is to book the accommodation and then I use livingsocial, groupon, wowcher and other deals sites like Deal Zippy for activities and nice meals out etc all within close proximity. But this time I can’t find anything on any of these websites anywhere close to so I am a bit stuck for inspiration.

Last year we did 3 midweek breaks using a combination of deals so we explored new places and did things we would not normally consider doing, had some nice meals and afternoon teas along the way, all were resounding successes but this time I am at a loss.

We like quirky interesting places, not touristy, maybe off the beaten track, also very much into history and ruins although OH is not a keen walker. We also try not to go to places we went to when the kids were at home so we are always treading new ground
I was looking at the lakes Distillery but then I thought I don’t like whisky!
I’ve not renewed any of my membership cards yet this year – National trust, English heritage, Hi Life, Taste card.

We will be based in Patterdale so I’ve started by looking at keswick and Kendal – both seem to have Greggs and Weatherspoons which my OH likes( he is very conservative in his tastes, using deals is the only way I can get him away from these places).

    Any suggestions please?

Penrith castle, Kendal castle, Ambleside roman baths, Castlerigg stone circle, orton chocolate factory, castle dairy resturant Kendal, shap abbey, Kirkby Lonsdale where Jamaica inn was filmed , devils bridge and ruskins view in Kirkby Lonsdale , just a few places off the top of my head :)
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it. :)

    Weight loss 3 stone :D

I gave up on dreamworld last year that odus falling off his swing was slowly sending me mental and I had visions of men in white coats turning up :p :rotfl:

There's also the Rheged centre at Penrith.

And Castlerigg stone circle, just outside Keswick, is lovely at dawn/dusk.

Thanks for this - this is not a bad suggestion the Rheged centre - we have not been before and it is en route so we can go there after a quick visit to Booths for hot chocolate :j.

I've found a Herdwick: A Portrait of Lakeland photographic exhibition which seems to be free - not sure if the car park is though.

Casterigg is also a good suggestion - just added it to the route map :D

Hi Life is probably well worth doing. Can get an app for £5 T vouchers and it works in quite a lot of places in the north, so probably where you are too. You can check their website for restaurants before you get it.

Before a Very Nasty bug hit me last week I got a superb pair of trousers from M&S outlet website. Went last night to see if there was another pair and they have closed the website. Old news to everyone else perhaps, but I was very sorry!
