Good morning
The weather  we had hail/sleet on the school run this morning. Nasty!
I'm off this morning and might venture out for some shopping. The upside of all my muggle home deliveries lately is I've earned 20p off a litre at Ts and my car is empty. It holds 80 litres so a nice saving :money:
Emerald so sorry to hear about your aunt :A0 -

Morning all – I thought it was sunshining and snowing this morning but it was frost floating around in the wind! And then we had a full scale snow shower going sideways for about 5 mins
Another week and another birthday problem – this time its daughters BF and the present is going to be a real challenge.
BF has quite sophisticated tastes, has no idea what cheap and cheerful means, everything is high quality and high cost, he even has a £150 shirt  – his father joints owns a big national company so think six figure salary income, completely different world to the rest of us, no budgeting, no discount coupons or offers etc.
For Christmas I gave him a gift bag with some good quality travel cosmetics (I won these ) a thick brick of chocolate with almonds in – he has a very sweet tooth (I got this when we were away in Spain ) and a tiny build your own sportscar kit – so it ticked various boxes – thoughtful, practical, quality, luxurious, indulgent, fun, quirky and untraceable (no clues as to where everything had come from) - this is the level I want to aim at.
His likes – running, football - no idea what team and Fifa – nothing I know anything about.
They live outside London and commute in. Recently they have started exploring London properly, not as a tourist which was what they were doing but really getting to know the place. Eldest child is a Time Out fan and has been able to get cheap theatre tickets and eating out deals. I did wonder if I could expand on this theme.
I did think originally of getting Hi-Life membership or a Taste card but as they only socialise at weekends most of the offers don’t apply on Fridays and Saturdays. I even thought of getting a National Art Pass but this is now £90 for an annual double – not even sure if they would get full use of it. I don’t really know what his taste is in theatre so getting them tickets for a production is not an option.
I had a look at deal zippy for London but there are 29 pages to trawl through and I don’t know where to start.
I saw a KG deal – 3 course meal and film for 2 at place on/near London Bridge but it has to be used within 3 months and the films are only shown late on Sunday evenings so that was a non starter.
Amazon local has a Jamie Oliver meal offer – 3 courses –you can use it any day of the week and there is one in their home city, another in Union Street London and one in York so even with their schedule they could be able to use it before the expiry date. It’s not a very original idea though but it might be Ok for the goody bag option if I could think of other things to go with it.
Any suggestions pretty please – desperate as always!
Have you checked on 'buy a gift' or a red letter day experience, a trip up the shard, are there any deals using Mr t clubcard deals? afternoon chocoholics tea, I think there was something on groupon.

I like to buy men Molton Brown stuff if they appreciate quality. Not all men would know the value of this but it sounds as though your DD's BF will. I would also look at House of F for designer pyjamas. They are not as expensive as you would think sometimes.0

simple as that
Now where was my baked potato recipe book ???
I think I leant it out .... Mrs Mac ? No she way better cook . AAU no ? He bakes
David ... No he's a beef man
FC ask DS2 he might remember ?! Oh maybe poppy ate it ?
Maybe it's under Ruth's make up bag ?
Or maybe Mrs 3dogs had it ? No I remember I leant it to Lookinforabargain who was getting Jelly to translate it into Spanish for Mildreds next trip.
Then she was bringing it back from Poland and Westie was going to photograph me a new front cover.
nannylala wrote the memo in it about Laura Ashley table cloths and Zagubov picked the tunes. To which Zippy took it to the pub on Friday to sample.
So then what happened ? VT was reclining on the chaise longue reading out loud to the Sarah's and the Claire's. DaveM was fixing the log fire and Nerfy was running around the pond with the kids.
TM and TS were comparing stashes of potatoes and ingredients, there was no shortage of beans and cheese. House Elf as ever sat back quietly and digested every move.
So where's my cook book now ??? Banana asks Hobbitjones
What was the question again ?!
I agree you are a nutter but a really lovely one Just bumping up for the day shift.
I agree the thread is like a family and possibly better than a lot of families Look at the support for Ruth and all the fab deals posted for us to share
I was reminded at the weekend by a rather strange man to enjoy life every day He was IMO too loud, sort of life and soul of the party type but I had to speak with him as we were at the same table He totally changed and his eyes clouded over and he told me about his wife's death 3 years ago He now tries to enjoy every day
I do think people are sent to us for a reason0 -

Yes Molton Brown is one of his preferred makes - I wish now Id taken more notice when there was the £10 discount code doing the rounds last year rather than sussing my teeth about the expense of it all ...
I know he wears the shorts and t shirt combo to bedbut I will have a look at House of fraser

How about a book of budgeting tips :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Seriously do not like people that just spend what they want on anything. We know a few millionaires through our work, and they are all frugal, one had a right set to with his phone company because he spotted a £2 overchargeI do see one or two higher end company bags around, but I also see a lot of Primark bags in their houses

HTH.
Yes I had a look at buyagift but a lot of stuff is very 'touristy" and I think they want to go native now
Afternoon teas are out - between us we have done an awful lot of them in various places so I think we have done them to death.
I might have to look at deal zippy London properly - trouble is everytime I find something interesting because I don't know the geography very well I have to check google maps - eldest child says everything takes such a huge chunk of time to get to so I look at things close to their train station or close to where she works in central London ...“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove.
