    Good Morning everyone.

Thank you for your messages regarding my Aunty. Funnily enough I went to my sisters yesterday and as I was driving away I stopped the car and said to her when you go and see Aunty Pauline let me know as I'd like to come too.

David yes it is the best way to go. She never wanted to go into a home and managed most things herself in her own home. I always remember one Cristmas present I had off her when I was a child . It was a selection of home knitted dolls clothes. It's funny what sticks in your mind. As children we always looked forward to visiting her and our couins.

Another sad note was that her only daughter ( she had three sons as well) Lavinia (Vinny) committed suicide about 6 years ago when her husband died. Guess she felt she couldn t go on. Leaving two daughters in their late teens :(

Anyway congrats to Ruth my mums namesake lol

    Good morning.

Back to the coal face for me.

So sad to see Ruth didn't manage to stay in the top 5 - however I think she did very well to be in the top 10 :T

Have a lovely day all. :)

Morning all – I thought it was sunshining and snowing this morning but it was frost floating around in the wind! And then we had a full scale snow shower going sideways for about 5 mins

Another week and another birthday problem – this time its daughters BF and the present is going to be a real challenge.

BF has quite sophisticated tastes, has no idea what cheap and cheerful means, everything is high quality and high cost, he even has a £150 shirt  – his father joints owns a big national company so think six figure salary income, completely different world to the rest of us, no budgeting, no discount coupons or offers etc.

For Christmas I gave him a gift bag with some good quality travel cosmetics (I won these :D ) a thick brick of chocolate with almonds in – he has a very sweet tooth (I got this when we were away in Spain ) and a tiny build your own sportscar kit – so it ticked various boxes – thoughtful, practical, quality, luxurious, indulgent, fun, quirky and untraceable (no clues as to where everything had come from) - this is the level I want to aim at.

His likes – running, football - no idea what team and Fifa – nothing I know anything about.

They live outside London and commute in. Recently they have started exploring London properly, not as a tourist which was what they were doing but really getting to know the place. Eldest child is a Time Out fan and has been able to get cheap theatre tickets and eating out deals. I did wonder if I could expand on this theme.

I did think originally of getting Hi-Life membership or a Taste card but as they only socialise at weekends most of the offers don’t apply on Fridays and Saturdays. I even thought of getting a National Art Pass but this is now £90 for an annual double – not even sure if they would get full use of it. I don’t really know what his taste is in theatre so getting them tickets for a production is not an option.

I had a look at deal zippy for London but there are 29 pages to trawl through and I don’t know where to start.
I saw a KG deal – 3 course meal and film for 2 at place on/near London Bridge but it has to be used within 3 months and the films are only shown late on Sunday evenings so that was a non starter.

Amazon local has a Jamie Oliver meal offer – 3 courses –you can use it any day of the week and there is one in their home city, another in Union Street London and one in York so even with their schedule they could be able to use it before the expiry date. It’s not a very original idea though but it might be Ok for the goody bag option if I could think of other things to go with it.

Any suggestions pretty please – desperate as always!
