At the same time, from the free wood bit, two absolutely perfect "raised beds" fell into my car... They may not have been in the free wood bit for the taking, but to contain the smaller bits

Jelly_Biactol wrote: »Oh, that's for amateurs:rotfl:Never been on a cruise, but from many years of 'taking' your own alcohol into music festivals where you are thoroughly searched on the gate, a fail-safe method is to get a loaf of bread (French sticks are the best, for obvious reasons:cool:), cut in half (or even better, cut off one end), hollow out the inside and stick your bottle of spirits inside that. Decanting it into a plastic bottle reduces the weight but isn't essential. They search bottles and containers, but never food. That would just be too devious and cunning:D
One of my proudest achievements at a certain music festival was getting a tiger loaf, cutting in half, scooping out the insides, then buttering the edges and sticking bits of salad round the edge, so when it was put back together the lettuce was sticking out so it looked like a giant salad sandwich. When we opened it up, we actually got a round of applause from the festival-goers round us:rotfl:
Another good method is to get the cartons of juice that have the plastic flip-top with foil underneath; the foil can be peeled off, the carton emptied, and the foil reattached with glue or pritstick. Particularly good for clear non-smelling spirits that you mix in a little of the juice. Unless the staff open the carton and taste the contents, even when opened it looks exactly as it should.
I'm not telling you all how I get alcohol into a festival. :eek:0 -
Good ta! Well actually, I tell a lie. Can't budge this darn chesty cough. Seems to be going round. Grrrr. Makes me a grumpy sod.

By the way, PD, are your Ikea boxes for your recipes and baking notes? Do you have those well-organised and written down, or is the expertise in your head?
I went through my recipe folder a few days ago, and threw out a lot in the category 'Nah, who am I kidding:o - I'm never going to make that'. I also star-rate my recipes (out of five). And my recipe books are covered in notes and scribbles (and floury fingermarks).
Oh, and how is the baking mojo? You know how I worry about it:D
I made some veg pasties last weekend - that's about all I've tackled recently.
We were 10
I keep finding recipes and notes all over the place, they're currently in a pile to be sorted. I'm literally going through everything in my room and being rather ruthless. Didn't realise how many cook books I had thoughI have a lot of bigger boxes too, one for financial stuff, one for photos, one for ebay packaging (I seem to have a lot of jiffy bags), one for old diaries/notes/postcards, one massive box for bags I don't use often but still want to keep for travelling (it's been far too long since I've used those), one for glitches/Christmas presents etc. Essentially I'm making the most of the small space I have

He was discharged (released) from hospital today. Physically he has recovered very well. Totally down to the fact he keeps himself so physically fit I've been told many times over the last few weeks.
I won't comment on his state of mind because it's still very, very upsetting. I'll just say there's not a great improvement therejust an acceptance that if he didn't go to the place I found for him, he would be sectioned to a MHU.
On the plus side. In a few days he will be starting a very intensive course of therapy. In the very best place that provides it in the country from my research. The MOD send their most mentally injured there and it's the very best chance he has of coming out the other side of the tunnel.
Downside is that we won't see him for a while. It has to be that way. I'm ok with that, we've spent many long periods apart in the past and we survived. It will be hard on the kids though who were only little when he was away for so long before.
I am ok. I have up days and down days but I'm working and studying again and keeping day to day life ticking over. I won't lie, the last few weeks have had some dark and some terribly sad moments for all of us. The kids have suffered way beyond anything they ever should have......and I've struggled with that.
Anyway who doesn't love the challenge of telling 2 control freak autistic kids to take one day at a time:rotfl:
Sorry for the Novella. I feel rude brushing people off when they are kind enough to ask how things are. And it'll answer those that wonder but don't like ask :A
I guess it has to be as it has to be. I do wonder if the MOD send their most affected there then why has this not been offered to a very brave man who has given the best years of his life to his country when his trauma started? Do they not help once discharged from the army or has this been resisted as treatment for a long time?
As for you autistic duo hopefully while oh is not around they will just write him out of their schedules for a while. Sad but they cope in a matter of fact way. He has gone away, he will come back one day. They will get plenty of notice as to when this will happen. I hope schools are helping with counselling for them.
I must say it took me a couple of days sleeping on holiday before I could adjust, had a very relaxing time but frequently had panic attacks in evenings which we spent quietly. Totally cracked up on last day but it was a relief. My step dad has done counselling for cruise in the past so we talked.
I don't like being home:(
I am feeling overwhelmed at the moment. DO has at least sorted nursery so little one only goes on her random shift pattern which saves £400 a month. A blessing as I have been helping with full time fees. My son ' are starting up in business making bi folding doors so turn to me for advice. My friend is having problems with bad solicitors and has found the house he wanted to buy has serious issues so is house hunting.
Dd and dgd are coming Sunday for a few days for my birthday them I have to face up to the sad challenge of sorting dad's house and affairs.
I do not feel strong enough for any of this but I will do it all. I will then collapse.
My coping strategy is telling myself that at any time it gets too much I will take a week out and disappear.
I did manage a date last night. He had been a great support on phone so we meet. Sadly I just didn't fancy him despite the fact we had so much in common:(
Ok rant over. I am catching up whilst watching inbetweeners. Always makes me laugh:rotfl:
I wish everyone peace and contentment.
Mrs aau1 is going to give birth on 3rd March at 11 am. I think a delicate weight of around 6 lbs 10oz:)
