Come on then, get that butt moving, mmmm.“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”
Juvenal, The Sixteen Satires0 -
British Gas were one that got me the other day - I think they said something like we always help our customers ensure they're getting the best deal.
What? Like, a lot of people could save at the moment by switching to Sains. Energy. And Sains. Energy is a trading name of... British Gas. So, switch from British Gas to British Gas (trading as Sains. Energy). It's another brand name - and, again, so cynical! It's there, in my cynical opinion, so that people who don't switch, who feel it is too much hassle, who feel all the things that the competition authority said (and are wrong about all those things in my view), are kept on a tariff paying more and more for never switching. Do they switch people automatically to Sains. Energy brand or phone them and tell them they could switch? Do they heck (I assume)! So, I'm not quite in agreement with BG there and I also doubt that this point has been raised. Brand-names again - so cynical: I think perhaps a bit like Nationwide and Cheshire used to be when Cheshire had a much better deal at one stage than Nationwide and yet the mass of people stayed with the Nationwide brand. Nationwide had a much higher share of the market. Just like, I feel, now - when BG trading as BG has much much larger share of the market than Sains. Energy. (Another case of the vast majority of the population being stupid? Reference to my earlier posting of 22/2. Remember, the readers here, we are in a savvy minority.) So - always watch different brand-names - and different target markets allowing people to be able to have things cheaper - so cynical: there being different target markets - although the Nationwide and Cheshire thing no longer a valid point.
(I think I've said it before - if you raise a valid point, and actually hit the nail on the head, then any response you'll get (if you get one at all) would fudge the matter, not address the point and simply address another point or fudge around the point you've raised. The question will never be answered directly. That's how I know when I've hit the nail on the head! However, if you say something that accords with a company's PR, then you'll get the PR line enthusiastically simply dished out:(:rotfl:. And, to be fair, I almost never agree with a company's PR line - for the very reason that it is almost certain to be dressed up in a favourable light - so why would I ever simply accord with the PR and get the PR line dished out back? What a pointless exercise:rotfl:.) To be fair, I should point out that I've not contacted BG and therefore they haven't been given an opportunity to respond, but I'm just mentioning it in general terms.
Bye folks:rotfl:.0 -
Much as the impression might be that I hold a low opinion of the majority of people...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.
I've now crossed out the Franky's frankfurters from the M list, given that the Hessy's Hot Dogs (Frankfurters) Avs T same number and weight work out cheaper. It would not surprise me one jot if I were to discover that the two are made by the exact same company:rotfl:. (I've no idea if they are or aren't - bet someone will confirm my expectation?:rotfl: Is my cynicism misguided there I wonder...?)
Goodnight!:wave::j0 -

And as a vegetarian trying to become a vegan, there are so many traps set!!! I have so much to learn about that, it isn't as simple as it sounds being veggie, but vegan is another thing altogether :eek Vegan cheese is vile but I am supposed to have an ounce of cheese a day on slimming world plan (or milk which I could have as soya milk .... but I hardly drink coffee/tea and have it black anyway, and make my porridge with water) Any vegans on here?
I'm not a vegan, but I've done a fair bit of vegan baking/cooking. It's taken me a long while to get my head around it. Like simple things such as vanilla extract - some vodkas are filtered through bone char and most vanilla extracts you get on the market are made with vodka so you never know. I daren't become a vegan, I think I would get a little obsessive checking everything! Even some pills like Ibuprofen can contain gelatine in them.'I solemnly swear that I am up to no good'0 -
Good morning all. Monday again already. Another week of work ahead to look forward to (not!). Real life is super super busy at the moment. No time to keep up at the minute. Managing to use loads from cupboards and freezer as no time to shop. My Feb spend should be favorable when I do my accounts record$s on Friday. Hope you all have a great week.0

Good morning all
My sis in law is vegan, I am veggie. Eating or drinking out with her is an experience that takes a bit of practice.
Once stood at a till in Starbucks for ages whilst staff had to get food info sheets to check if a cookie was vegan!
Ordering soy latte is an art form - the soy milk froths more than normal milk so it has to be made extra wet and you have to wait for it to settle to get it topped up or risk only getting half the drink you paid for.
I have known her to return tablets to pharmacy because they are coated (usually made from little critters)
Easter eggs don't always state if they are veggie so care has to be taken there.
Footwear needs to be checked to ensure all man made - see veggie shoes.com and get ready for the prices!
Makeup needs to be checked. Even if there is nothing in it of concern, the contents will have been tested on animals. If you are vegan as you don't want to harm animals then this is an issue. Same with shampoo etc.
The list goes on0
