Good morning all - a nice bright shining morning which looks better than yesterday but probably just as cold.

I have started the week with renewed vigour :j having already written the To Do list - an awful lot of tedious tasks on the A side of the list but if I concentrate and don't prevaricate I can be done before lunch so I have to put myself into purdah this morning
But at least if they are done I will be ready for anything the week throws at me or at the very least less excuses to make a start on the B side of the list.

But I thought I'd just pop in first to make sure everyone is OK and has gone through the weekend in one shape or another :)

    Good morning all

My sis in law is vegan, I am veggie. Eating or drinking out with her is an experience that takes a bit of practice.

Once stood at a till in Starbucks for ages whilst staff had to get food info sheets to check if a cookie was vegan!

Ordering soy latte is an art form - the soy milk froths more than normal milk so it has to be made extra wet and you have to wait for it to settle to get it topped up or risk only getting half the drink you paid for.

I have known her to return tablets to pharmacy because they are coated (usually made from little critters)

Easter eggs don't always state if they are veggie so care has to be taken there.

Footwear needs to be checked to ensure all man made - see veggie shoes.com and get ready for the prices!

Makeup needs to be checked. Even if there is nothing in it of concern, the contents will have been tested on animals. If you are vegan as you don't want to harm animals then this is an issue. Same with shampoo etc.

    The list goes on :)

I am veggie but don't do the bit I've bolded so guess I'm not a proper veggie :o I really don't like the toiletries that are not animal tested. They are so expensive and we get all this animal tested stuff for free in glitches, I wouldn't want to go back to the vegan stuff I used to use. Also I love my Ugg Boots too much :D

I have much admiration for people who stick to veganism rigidly though. I did it for 4 years but when I met OH I couldn't be bothered with it anymore and my priorities changed.

First gristly task on the list is youngest sons birthday this week - OMG he can't be that elderly - in my head I am only a few years older than him ...

I haven't even sorted a card out yet - might have to resort to a moonpig or funky pigeon - really hate getting cards, it can literally take days for me to choose

Also a present - we are trying to persuade him that we will pay for the service on his van but he has not agreed to this yet.
I suppose I can give him an Amazon gift card which I know he will use but again it seems Like a cop out so I've nothing to actually give him on the day yet.

Not that we are even going to see him on the day - busy working - so if I am going to post something it has to be small enough for a letter box or I could send something to his work address if bigger ...

As always he wants and needs for nothing - he works in the outdoor sports industry as an instructor which you would have thought would be very easy to get presents for. His kit though is very specialised and work provides a lot of it. He needs nothing for his van or his computer, not into DVDs, not into fashion, doesn't eat out or go out apart from the pub with his mates on odd times ....

    It's the 24th - 23 on the 24th

    Please keep posting your wombles

I love to see the minor comparisons I MAY do a small C&C one but it is way out of my comfort zone and could not do too many Everyone has there own boundaries

I quite liked this weekend with really cheap stuff thanks to Shopit
My cupboards are pretty full thanks to all the price matches and those that are better or almost free that i have participated in

May go looking for 2p hankies:T

    Morning,

Another one here who likes seeing the wombles and does comparison shopping. For anyone who wants to post them I'm appreciative.

As for the 2p snot rags. I totally missed this but I'm going searching today now. I never have any luck with 1p stuff. Not found anything ever. :o

Yesterday I got lots of party bags etc RTC in sains. All down to 10p and candles 5p.

I'd give him money. Enough to pay for a service on his van but so that he can do whatever he likes with it. I know some people think it's a "thoughtless" gift and that it's a cop out. But for a 24 year old lad who doesn't need anything else it gives him the freedom to save it for when something comes up, or like you say, service his van. Why limit him to amazon?

If you were going for something "thoughtful" - though I'd argue in this case that cash is thoughtful :D, maybe some prints or a canvas of photos he has taken (on his fbook?). If he is outdoorsy there may be some good shots with good scenery. You can get posters made (aldi photos). Hth
