    No - As I said in an earlier post no-one owns any numbers - they all belong to the DVLA.

    What you will have is the right to display it no matter where you obtain it from.

    Buying a number from the DVLA is no different from buying from anywhere else.

    If I had a number for sale and you bought the right to display it from me your rights would be exactly the same as if you had bought it from the DVLA.

    It's cheapest to buy new direct from DVLA, but DVLA dont do second hand registrations. So if you want one that someone else has had you can only get from one of the companies that add loads extra on.

    Of course - the DVLA only sell brand new, never before issued, numbers.

    But you can buy an existing number direct from a private individual who is advertising/selling it - no need for any middle-men or companies at all.
