Theyre vertical ones. We were burgled saturday before last. My husband suggested blinds to stop anyone looking into the house. They smashed off our back door and kitchen door with sledgehammers. Our jack russells bitten one of them so the police forensics man said if they're on their database they'll catch them. We only had net curtains up before and the policeman advised getting blinds cos he said he could see straight through our nets. This is why we decided to get some blinds. Yes now I can see where it shows you how to measure and I'm a stupid old woman for not seeing all of this. My only excuse is that I've been unnerved by this burglary so I've not been taking things in like I should have done and the mistakes my own. And a very expensive one at that. :-(0

Verticals are a real dawdle to shorten from either end. Personally I'd do it from the top. A Stanley type knife, measuring tape and some glue is all you need. Go for it!0 -
If the normal fabric vertical blinds then they are a doddle to alter - I fouled up once and measured to the floor at the patio doors - forget about the carpet that was going down. Unpicked the bottom stitching with a craft knife, re folded and stitched back up.
I also wanted to re do a 2 ft blind. It was cheaper to buy a few 8ft slats and make 2ft ones out of them.0 -

As I say I've never ordered blinds so when it said you measure the frame and if you want them recessed you don't need to do anything else they make the deductions for you so I thought that was that. So looks lke I'm stuck with them. They won't take them back or alter them. :-(
They may not alter them at THEIR expense; they may, however, be willing to adjust them if you offer to pay for them to be shortened.
I suggest you go back to them and ask for a quote for an alteration.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear0 -
No they refused point blank to do anything other than offer me ten per cent discount on ordering new sets. I can't alter them they aren't sewn there's a sort of seal that leaves a pattern on them so if I cut them they'll look wrong.0

Hi,
if you were to alter them at the top it wouldn't be so obvious, maybe just a wee bit more footery.0 -

I'm sure your not the first person to make this mistake and you won't be the last
If you or your partner don't feel capable of doing the work, are you a member of some sort of group, coffee morning, dance group etc. I'm sure you can find someone to help0 -
If you cannot alter them then you can buy just the slats quite reasonably priced on ebay.0
-
you can just get new slats.
http://www.kingstonblindsdirect.co.uk/ for £1 per slat. have used them for all our rooms0
