Will be paid early tomorrow due to the weekend so adjusting my signature to reflect the usual loan payment.
We actually still have money in account today which just shows how far we've come as in the past we'd only just be making it pay day to payday! I did think about using this as another overpayment but I also like the idea of building a current account buffer so will leave it where it is for now!0 -
How're things DFB? xLBM 1st Feb 2015 £18182 to go
my diary: time to step up to the plate. SPC#0790 -
Hi Stepup your sig is looking great!
Im good, cant make any overpayments this month as need to save up for the Architect drawings (£1,800). I have already put away £800 from this months pay. And then we are going abroad to visit family for my nans one year anniversary at the end of the month - I cannot believe how quick this one year has gone
So a bit quiet on the overpayments at the moment. I had a catch up with your diary and sorry to hear about issues with your OH xx
I am also back on the diet! Im up to 10st 12lb the heaviest for me ever! I just cannot stop eatingBut back on the fitness pal with an odd slimfast thrown in.

I have been really quiet lately... But I'm still being good and MSE, it's almost like second nature now and probably why I don't feel the need to write often. I remember last year when I struggled with spending and wanting things like handbags etc.. All of those feelings are gone now
even if I was given £1k to spend specifically on a branded handbag I wouldn't buy it now!
I've taken up a new hobby with the kids, we go bike riding which is a lot of fun and I did buy myself a second hand bike (£40) which was money very well spent!
Can't wait to start overpayments again, we have £1,800 for the drawings now so should be able to overpay something from next pay.
Speak soon0 -
Hi DFB35, hope you're well. I too have been quiet but I'm being much less focussed than you so have decided I need to get back on here and write more! Glad you're enjoying bike riding, always feels good to get it and about in the nice weather.0

Updating my totals for the payday and also making a £500 overpayment to the loan
So the loan now stands at £6214 :money:
We have the money for the architect already saved and the spending money for the half term holiday, so all is good.
Me and hubby were talking last night and we might hold of on the house build until the debt is paid off, which it should be by the end of the year. Firstly it will be a good psycological boost and secondly we are not sure we want the work to be carried out over Christmas as it will be very disruptive. We still dont even have the architect drawings yet so everything is just taking ages. I dont want to be in the middle of building through the winter (no hot water etc..) so might be best to wait until early next year.0 -
Just wanted to say how inspirational you have been. I have followed your journey since you started and we are now very close to being where you are now I.e with just a loan left, considering options for our future housing situations and saving up for things. It's nice to follow someone who is already there.
Thank you for being honest with everything!

Nice to hear from you Icc86
To be honest I feel that I'm not as focussed as i have been at the beginning and could have done a lot better BUT the main thing that I always remind myself is that we learned to live within our means and have not aquired any more debt (well apart from planning the extension which will add £££ to our mortgage but that's an investment  )
But good idea getting back on it and writing more, I will double my efforts once I'm back from my break, we can do it :beer:0 -

Thank you crunchy! It's so strange to hear that I have inspired somebodyYour signature is looking fab and it won't be long until you have just the loan left
I have to warn you though that at first once we payed off the car and the CC and just had the loan left I experienced major "demotivation" and had thoughts along the ones of "oh it's only one loan at the set Apr rate, it's affordable lets just leave it to run its course!" And it was quite hard to make the first overpayment. I'm not 100% sure why but I guess I just wanted to start living and enjoying life and not constantly think about debt.
But I have realised that even though it's "just one debt" it still there hanging around and is dragging us down even though it's not as bad as before. So I can't pretend it's not there and have gone back on to overpayments. Still I am a bit more relaxed and allowing myself some treats and a little holiday. So I guess it is all about balance!0 -
Pay day on Friday :j and looking at the budget/ money left over i can throw another £200ish on the debt! Wanted to take it to 5xxxx.... but I seemed to have over calculated it and the actual figure is £6,335 and not the £6,214 in my sig.. not sure how that happened
So the new figure is £6,135 not quite in the 5,xxx but very close.
But once the usual direct debit comes out it will be £5,995 though - I will be back after pay day to update that :money:0
