Well done!!! You inspired me to get rid of my overdraft even though it's cheaper than my credit card and a smaller debt. I just wanted to be rid of it.

I will start 2016 with just one creditor too!! Well done and looking forward to seeing you get rid of all of it next year!

Although I feel like my debt hasn't gone down much, I am astounded at the difference in my perspective and behaviour. Even when I overspend, it's relatively small amounts that aren't added to my debt, whereas I used to order loads of books and clothes without a second thought. Making permannt changes in my attitude to money and spending feels awesome ;)

I'm free from work until next year wooooooooo! Busy busy today, left work just after lunch and popped into town as thought I wanted to get a few more bits... I know I know I promised that I was finished... But I kept thinking of certain things that I wanted, I really wanted to get a ginger bread house kit to make with the kids on Christmas Eve but couldn't find it anywhere...

Instead got kids a choc Santa each, some nice bath stuff for Christmas Eve and new pyjamas for son (daughter is getting some for Christmas already).

Hubby is out tonight so I'm chilling and contemplating my plans for 2016. There is a possibility that we could pay off the loan by this time next year (especially if get bonuses again!). I am excited to start overpaying it but will need to be very careful as it will be longer until our next payday due to getting paid early this month.

In any case we will almost definitely be debt free by 2017, it just depends how hard we want to push ourselves in 2016 and I know i still could do so much better with my budgeting as the perfect example of the unnecessary spending above :wall:

But I will get there and we will be debt free, I really do believe this now :money:

Wishing everyone a lovely Christmas if I don't post before then Xx

Had a lovely Christmas with the family

On reflection and bearing in mind I haven't used credit so no harm done... I do have to admit that I still went a bit overboard and the kids had too many presents! I keep promising myself to rein in it a bit more so will try to do better next year!

But DH and i didn't get anything for each other. He is difficult to buy for and I don't need anything, there are things that I want but they are too expensive! We might still go to the sales to get some clothes as agreed but I'm really enjoying being at home at the moment so not really bothered haha!

I have been looking at expensive bags again but it's more out of boredom I think, even though I have the money there (in emergency fund) I'm not going to buy anything, whereas in the past I definitely would. It's really hard to explain, but is a sort of compulsion! And even now I'm not completely cured... I get this with designer bags and jewellery which I've been looking at too! :o

I find that focussing on something else helps but if it gets too bad I will use the emergency fund to make an overpayment to the loan so that the money aren't there anymore. But hopefully it's just a boredom browsing!

Anyway, let's do a round up of the year :j
It has been a good debt busting year for us and we paid of a huge £10,524 of our debt! With £8,814 to go :money:

I am going to change my signature for the new year, so here is the reminder of that:

    Car Loan- Feb 15 £1,632 Now - £0
    CC- Feb 15 £6,813 Now -£0
    Loan- Feb 15- £10,893 Now- £8,814
    EF Savings £1,000/£1,000
Never give up - Keep going

I know and believe if we stay focussed and keep going we will be debt free in less that two years, maybe even by this time next year if we get the bonuses again!

I'm looking forward to a frugal and sensible 2016!

Wishing everyone a happy new year!

That's an incredible amount of debt busting this year, congrats! I know what you mean about boredom browsing, it can be dangerous!

I'm really enjoying the holidays and the time off :D

After aknowledging that boredom browsing I have been keeping busy! Taking little one to the park on the new scooter (oldest refused grrr moody madam!), tidying and cleaning and cooking and eating haha :rotfl:

Really need to clean out the fish tank, poor little things have been neglected.. I feel like I don't really want to keep them anymore as have too many pets including a very demanding (and expensive) cat. I feel bad about it :o but they here to stay anyway as can't give them away because my DS really likes them! So must clean the fish...

Went clothes shopping and really pleased with what we got. Everything I bought was in the sale and also picked up a present for DDs birthday so she is done now. It felt really good treating ourselves and I've sorted my wardrobe and finally really happy with it!

The only thing is I'm now heavier than ever! All the tops I got fit but they would look much better if I slimmed down a bit (all my extra weight is around the middle!!). It is difficult to slim when Im home, once I'm back at work I will really start again with my diet! I must slim down to enjoy my nice new clothes :D

Oh and also got a new handbag (longchamp so not the super expensive designer stuff), also in the sale and together with the clothes it be my joint Christmas and birthday pressie.

With these purchases it is likely that some money will have to be taken from the emergency fund towards the end of the month, but we have done well with the debt payments and putting our bonuses towards it I'm feeling ok about that. Plus my birthday and DDs birthday are now also done.

Wishing everyone a very happy New Year!

Just wanted to report that fish have been cleaned! I've also decluttered their tank so it looks a lot better!

Ps when I said they where getting neglected I meant they were due a clean but I was building myself up to it since Christmas, not that I'm actually neglecting them :o

We had a quiet New Years, don't really celebrate them, but stayed up with the kids and watched a couple of films (Maze runner - amazing!).

Then fireworks at midnight, as the fireworks started I got really chocked up, could just about hold it together as didn't want the kids/hubby to see... But it really hit me that this is the first new year my nan not seen in :( I literally just managed to hold it together until we went to bed and then just cried, I felt like I couldn't breathe, it is still very raw. My nan absolutely loved the new year, she would get dressed up and make nice food/ cake and would always have champagne! She would have been upset that we don't celebrate it, but after the whole build up to Christmas I really cannot be bothered with new year celebrations to be honest!

Starting the 1st of January I am now on my health kick, I did a fitness dvd and cutting back on my eating. I will be honest a small chocolate bar did find itself in my belly, but on the whole I would say a good day health wise!

Took the kids out again. Looking forward to the same today! Have family coming round tomorrow and then back to the rat race woooo :rotfl:

Not looking forward to it as work will be manic, but I am looking forward to all the direct debits clearing on the 4th so will know how much is left for the month! But realistically the loan overpayments won't start until we get paid end of January. But once we are paid that be it, gloves off and the loan better watch out :money: We will have a good 4 months run up when nothing is planned so can hopefully hammer down the debt. But I do want to do something for the Easter holidays, not sure what yet.. Will have a think :)
