balance transfer help - card wont accept it? is this correct?

We recently applied and got accepted for a halifax balance transfer card so when applying added the account details of the credit card we are trying to transfer the balance from as its a vanquis credit card they wont let us transfer the balance from the vanquis card to the halifax card. They say because they cant always accept it as there system wont allow it?. Is this correct as we just want to close the vanquis account as we are only paying off the interest and want to pay off the card which is why we got the 0% balance transfer card. Can anyone help the only advice i got was to either try again but probably wont work or just to clear the card with the card? can that be done?

You can't 'clear the card with the card' unless you have been offered a money transfer offer which the Halifax BT card doesn't.

A 10 second Google search came up with this

You might want to call Halifax again and ask if they will offer you a money transfer for the funds to go into your bank account.

This is the second thread on here this week saying that they have been told that they cannot BT from a vanquish card.

we didn't think you could clear a card with a card, so when the suggested this we was a little surprised. Any ideas on what we can do?

If you cant BT from vanquish to halifax, and halifax wont offer a money transfer to a bank account then you may have to apply for another card that does offer this money transfer 0%.

brill we will try the money transfer 1st. fingers cross it works. Very frustrating when all we are trying to do is clear the card but seems they put stuff in place to make you never to be able to
