I have a Halifax Clarity card and got a letter to say they are offering me a 0% balance transfer for 12 months:j I still owe Vanquis and this would be brilliant to close down the Vanquis account. But, do Vanquis let you do an automatic balance transfer?

get Vanquis shut... call the halifax, they will take the 16digit Vanquis card number, and the balance owed. Within 5days, the vanquis balance will be cleared!!! woo hoo!
Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?

The company who you are transferring from doesn't need to give permission, otherwise we would all be stuck with high APR CC when we have 0% in our wallets (although I don't have one of those card...yet ;) )
    29th June -Beginning Credit Score 422 :( £2575
    12th July - Credit score 471 :p
22nd August - Credit Score 550 :p Still very poor just but only just!
    Remaining to pay off: £1370.95

Thanks for replies, some time ago a few holders of the Vanquis card on here said they had problems doing an automatic transfer if it involved Vanquis? I will give Halifax a ring though as the offer ends on the 14th August.

halifax do seem to been nice, I have a defualt falling off in sept and they gave me 13 mont 0% on spending and bts
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
  • A it late in responding, but no you can't transfer Vanquis balances to other cards. I tried and the card said they couldn't trasfer that particular card. I have since read somewhere that Vanquis said they do not have the facilities to sweep balances to other cards which really annoyed me.

Really wanted to get a 0% transfer cos I owe £1500 to Vanquis.

Do any of the cards let you do a transfer to your current account in the 0% period still?

In which case you could work it out.

With that if halifax let you do it but not in the 0% deal I am sure it would still save you money.

initially Halifax tried twice to do the balance transfer but wouldn't go through:( Good news, Halifax offered me a ''super balance transfer'' they send money directly to my bank account. Plus a lovely rate under 8% apr:T So they paid it off for me, from about 59% interest right down to under 8%. My limit with Vanquis was £3000, never ever got to that amount though, quite scary stuff with Vanquis! I got offered a 0% normal balance transfer, but with Vanquis being not the norm had to get the less than 8% deal, oh well still not bad.

Good stuff, will save you a small fortune there, maybe not 0% but still great news.

Thanks Percy, big difference isn't it! But I think having Vanquis for over 2 years plus other credit lines got me a decent card with Halifax and also a Fly Be, they Fly Be later offfered me a 0% balance transfer, bit like buses with me, nothing then a couple come along:T
