25 years too early for me.

I do however know a significant number of staff who intend to apply for it.

It's Voluntary Exit not Redundancy - apparently there's a subtle difference.

The link http://www.dfpni.gov.uk/index/working-in-the-nics/nics_voluntary_exit_scheme.htm says it's NICS-wide so if you're a civil servant then seems to be yes unless the phrase "except for staff who have been informed by their Department that, for business reasons, they cannot be released under the Scheme" applies to you.

    Which is what exactly?

We'd love to know, as no details have been released yet. What is you know that no-one else does?

I believe the calculator will be available from the start of March bingo bango so you'll know more then.

As for warmhands.coldheart, I get the feeling they have real issues in regards to Civil Servants so just like to spout stuff like that.

Try search for NICS Voluntary Exit.
    For Voluntary Redundancy
Below normal pension age on exit – one month’s pay for each year of service up to 21 months.

Above normal pension age on exit – one month’s pay per year of service up to a maximum of six months.

For Voluntary Exit employers "have some discretion over the terms of the offer." - whatever that means.

I would have to disagree with that as I know a number of people who work in the Civil Service who have had their letters including figures on offer... my sister being one of them!!

True.... I do.... I think they are in a lot of cases generally overpaid and not very efficient in what they do... Fair enough you can blame the system they work within but either way it never stops... look at the recent fiasco over St.Marys and Stranmillis...... Complete Joke....... Wasting public money training teachers who will end up working in call centres or have to move out of Northern Ireland to get a job.....

I'm well versed in their civil servant bashing ways ;)

I like keyboard warriors to produce facts when they attack my role in public life and that of my colleagues.

As for the 'generous payout ' available, I'm well aware of what the likely terms will be. I find that cold comfort for colleagues who feel that voluntary exit is the way forward, because the terms are marginally better than voluntary redunancy which is a distinct possibility if they don't accept the terms of this forthcoming scheme.

Be interesting to see what their position is in 3 years time, because I know of changes coming very soon which will have a negative socio-economic impact on people just like warmhands, but hey, who needs doctors and nurses or indeed a health service?
