    Here we go.

All public sector money comes from private enterprise. For them to pay those contracts, or those big salaries, another private sector company had to pay tax.

All public sector money comes from the private sector.

No one is suggesting that. Why, when anyone talks about reducing our massive non-productive public sector, do people always come out with all or nothing arguments? No one is implying we should get rid of it altogether, just reduce it to a more suitable size.

Exactly.... as soon as someone says about too making public sector workers redundant the first thing that comes up is... oh are you saying we should get rid of Health Service workers and teachers....

    NO....
I'm saying get rid of every other manager who seems to do nothing other than pass the buck on to someone else "in authority"..... to make a decision.. put the money into the "workers" who are actually doing something constructive....
Make use of technology and get rid of all those people doing jobs that can easily be done by the customer/public themselves online... i.e. taxing your car..... buying your dog license.... etc..etc..etc...
Cut the councils & Stormont further.... 3 or 4 councils.... that's all we need here for our population..... get rid of at least half of those MLA's and their gravy train expenses... no need for them.....
Rationalise departments.... So.... There is a Department for Education and a Department for Enterprise, Trade and Investment but then we have another department for Employment & Learning?????? :rotfl: Seriously.... It's !!!!!!! hilarious. ... One would have thought the Learning would come under Education and the Employment would come under Enterprise, Trade and Investment.... how much more cross over is there!!!! and to top it the are all run by different parties who have their own party political agenda.....

What a bl00dy joke!!!! and people here are trying to say we need all these public sector jobs...... Seriously!!

SIL works in the Health service Stevey and she says the exact same thing..... lots of managers shuffling around passing paperwork from one person to the other and nothing really seems to get done by them.........

Does the health service have a Staff to Manager quota a bit like daycare???? you know.... must be a manager for every 2 or 3 staff? ;).....

Nail on the head there buddy, management keep management in work by having meetings about meetings to discuss further meetings in which nothing is ever resolved :(

I really feel sorry for nursing and medical staff these days, I see the long hours they put in and the commitment they give everyday to patients. They have to put in triplicate paperwork and wait 6 months to order a pen these days :(
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:

100% agree...... from my SIL's experience the general nurses do what they can in a system that is top heavy and has a serious blame culture and a real "them and us" attitude between Dr's, Nurses, Consultants, Managers..... pretty much everyone........ If you don't "toe the line" or you are seen to "get above your station" you are knocked back in a manner that makes sure you "know your place"...... real good for moral.....
  • Was listening to a bit on the radio last night and couldn't believe what I heard. For the purposes of Voluntary Redundancy a Figure of £24,000 (if memory is correct) is the base salary the packages are worked out from so if you are on less than that, then your redundancy package is still worked out based on our salary being £24,000...... Seriously!!!! I think they worked out a part time worker on about £18,000 per year pro-rata in the CS with 6 years service could walk away with about £13,000 redundancy TAX FREE !!!.... !!!!!!... seriously !!!

Yes warmhands. They're trying to get rid of people, so are paying them off. This is cheaper for the taxpayer than continuing to pay people!
