Got my money back! Wrong Account Transfer

Original message to keep the thread making senseI am very happy to announce that yesterday I received my money back from Santander following a recent dispute.
As some may be aware from my previous posts, I transferred my rent into my agencies old account which I had been advised to stop paying into 2 years ago when they changed banks.
Long story short, no one at the agency had access to the account due to a high staff turnover, and Santander would not release the money until the account owner authorised it, which of course would never happen.
Financial onbumdsan couldnt help and 3 months later nothing.
I then contacted the daily mail regarding the situation, and one of their reporters called them on my behalf.
Within 12 hours to £500+ was back in my account.
Very Happy Indeed!!0 -
I guess it was easier for Santander just to pay £500 from their pocket to get rid of the journalist(s). They have not done anything wrong.
Have you intentionally ignored/switched the point that was in fact about correcting errors, not preventing them? This story, if you read it, clearly demonstrates that the system is extremely poor in terms of correcting, mainly because of the ill-thought DPA.
I've always believed in treating the cause not the symptom. I don't want the institutions spending a lot of time and money making their systems idiot-proof; I want the idiots to take personal responsibility for their actions and check what they are doing before hitting Send. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
