I'm in Somerset and would happily travel to pick up a prize.
I have won tickets to events in Cardiff and in Exeter, neither were particularly "high value" prizes, but they were both events we were interested in.

I've also been to a few shows at the Birmingham NEC, even managing to win 2 sets of tickets to the same event so that other family members could come too.
    Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set

i try not to enter competitions where i would have to travel too long for a prize. i live in london - so things like the scottish hotel comps i avoid. (i dont have a car!)

the thing that annoys me is people who just enter everything - then win something theres no way they could go to - i just think this takes the prize away from someone who could go!

    just my thoughts !

I won tickets to see Rita Ora at Newbury Racecourse (around 5 minutes from our house at the time) the lady at the entrance said I was one of the only winner that actually showed up.
OM goodness, that is tragic.. I actually cannot bear to see any tickets go to waste.

I'll admit, this was what I was thinking this morning but I'm really pleased to read that is not necessarily the case.
  • So far I have not bothered to enter any ticket comps, but then there has not been any I was desperate to win. If comp included at least a one night stay within reasonable distance from home then I would enter. But if it was for "up North" and less than a couple if days,I would not bother as it would be a bit of a journey from Bristol.
I do not do twitter at all and only a few on facebook,so all in all I suppose I may enter 12 comps per day,so am selective.
  • I wouldn't enter for premiere tickets in London (I'm in Glasgow) but mostly because I couldn't care less about going to a film premiere. For things I really want or that are of high value but in London, I would totally enter and make a weekend of it if I won. E.g. big £1000+ voucher wins that have to be spent in London, absolutely!

I do agree that I find it hard to believe someone would travel all the way from Kinrossshire just for this, but you never know? Or maybe Val already has plans to be in London at the time of the premiere anyway?
2018 wins: Aspinal of London jewellery box, Boudavida gym outfit, HP Pavilion laptop, The List party tickets, All Points East festival tickets, Kiehls moisturiser, By Terry cc serum, Nars Liquid Bronzer, Benefit highlighter, Nars illuminator, Fresh advanced lip trio set, Cetaphil sample set, signed copy of My Absolute Darling by Gabriel Tallent

I won, I won, I won! I've been Money Tipped!
i'm on the welsh boarders and i have travelled to london for a film premiere, birmingham to music and cookery events, and cardiff for music events, we tend to not go out much so if i am lucky enough to win we make a day of it, and as i am happy to drive i don't mind the odd very late night!
  • Depends on the prize. I've entered loads of 'win a £500 voucher to spend in our shopping centre' comps. Don't care if it's in London and i'm in Scotland, i'd go to collect that.

Blind entering then not claiming is pointless, but if the prize is big enough, yeah, i'd travel.

I entered an online caption competition, knowing the 1st prize of VIP tickets to the music event was just too far for me to go. I entered merely for a humorous ploy.

Typically I won it, and had to politely decline the prize.

I live near Bristol - I've been to Cardiff which is a cheat because I've family just outside. Although I won a holiday & had to fly from Stansted
proud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl
  • I live in the North West so tend to avoid Scotland / South West comps if they don't include travel / accommodation but usually enter London ones as I am often down for work so if I combine it with a meeting I can get work to cover travel expenses and I have a good friend down there I can stay with. Don't bother for things like tickets or meals but if it was a money can't buy experience like BAFTAs or for a high value prize (eg recent comp for a Rolex to collect in London) I will give it a go.
