How far would people honestly travel for a win

Ok so this morning I was browsing the winners list on one of the click to wins..
Now, I'm probably just jealous because I really wanted to win tickets for the Will smith screening of Focus and It's a 30 minute tube for me into London . I've always kinda figured I have a reasonably good chance with any London ticket wins due to my location and the fact that entries would be much lower.
Which gets me to the winners list here http://winit.closeronline.co.uk/winners
I'm actually really intrigued now, based on location.. how many of these winners for the Focus screening which is in London tonight and no hotel provided actually looked at what they were entering. I could be wrong and people would be willing to travel to the other end of the country for 2 hours at the cinema when it includes the possibility of getting a small glimpse of Will smith but I'm not convinced. The prospect of those tickets going to waste is such a shame and I think I would feel better if people were to answer "Yes they would".
I suppose what I really want to ask but don't want to offend is ..Do people actually read or care what they are entering.

im in cornwall and went to the world premier of the hobbit film in december, we got the train up at 10am, got there about 3-4, saw the premier hung around after and got a few pictures or orlando bloom then walked back to get a train at 11pm ish, got home 7 the next morning.. it was amazing.
my competition said no travel was included but because i was coming from cornwall they offered to refund the full price of our train tickets! (my sister paid initially but was over the moon when they offered to refund her the money)0 -
I've seen lots of comps for trips to certain places and some of the entrants are miles away. Had that recently on a bluewater comp where you had to collect it.
There are a lot of people entering for the hell of it with the potential to make a quick quid if they do get lucky
Actually a lot of the comps do mention location with enables me to red cross them vvery quickly and if no location is mentioned then i have a bit of a look online first
as for the closer comp - i dont think val S from kinrosshire will be in attendance0 -
I guess it depends on who the celebrity is. If it was Johnny Depp then yes I would travel that far for the chance. We traveled from Brum to London for an intimate gig with Kylie. We used 'park at my house' for the parking and then drove back. Granted we should have booked into an hotel as it was free free-flowing drinks.
I know what you mean though as there have been times in the past when I have been falling asleep at the keyboard and suddenly come round and thought OMG what have I just entered but that probably says more about my comping addiction...£279/£2016 (13.8%)
£1137/2015 (56%)
£1833/2014 (91%)0 -
i also won tickets for a rugby match at twickenham which my dad and grandad went to (my OH ended up in hospital a couple of days before so i couldnt leave him with both kids after coming out of hospital)0

Ditto - my OH will travel pretty much anywhere if England are playing. He has even mentioned Rome this week!!!£279/£2016 (13.8%)

Really interesting reply's and I do feel better that clearly these ticket type wins don't go to waste. In fact It's actually quite heartwarming to read the pleasure and opportunity entering these comps gives to us all.
Living close to London we probably take a lot of this sort of thing for granted althoughi dont think val S from kinrosshire will be in attendance
Maybe Val is on this board and she wants to put her tickets to good use:)

Some people obsess about pop or movie stars etc and travel absurd distances to satisfy their "needs".0

Hmmm I now need to win some premiere tickets for The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel with Richard Gere in attendance.
Saying that, even though I have thoroughly enjoyed my premiere/screening wins, the only experience I have had with the stars is them popping in to introduce the film for 2 mins before rushing to the screening room next door to do the same. So although I have enjoyed the experience, no I would not travel more than an hour for it.0 -
I have won tickets to see bon jovi, 300 miles away. Sadly I had already bought tickets and booked a hotel. But I did give a pair of tickets away.
If promoters could give more notice of these things that would help a lot. No use telling me three days before the event, by then its far too late to book time off work, an hotel room and transport. Will be happy when I retire, can enter comps for 4 days in Oz and 1 day in Istanbul and the like.:p63 mortgage payments to go.
Zero wins 2016 😥0 -
Depends on what it was, how much it would cost to travel and the timing. I could get a cheap coach ride to London from Newport for £15 so would happily have the day out to pick up a high value prize, for example. If it's a concert / show, I always check for at least a hotel. I've yet to win anything like that though, the furthest I've had to go is to Cardiff to pick up an iPad mini at the (travel) cost of £5
But saying that, I did win a weekend at Longleat, which cost me £60 in taxis over the two days and £30 for trains - but the value of that was over £1500 and my mum, my two girls and I had a wonderful time so well worth it!Thanks to all posters :A0
