I'm sure you can respond to the direct questions without breaching forum rules.

No commissions are earned from repairs......

In that case why do you make your "subscribers" give up their right to having repairs carried out at their own choice of repairer?

It's a bit rich for the "rep" to tell us forum rules prevent him from answering further for fear of self promotion when his alteregos have constantly attempted all manner of self promotion (even stooping to touting for customers under the pretence of letting us know about their Facebook prize "competition" - for new "subscribers" only)

This gem is buried in their ts + cs.

    Seems smoke and mirrors!

Free Motor Legal is not an insurance policy, it is a subscription service. As such, Free Motor Legal endeavours to provide all service described, however the services are offered at our discretion and cannot be guaranteed.

(I emboldened part of the last sentence, they don't!)

Further to the comments, observations and criticisms put forward, a review has taken place and our terms and conditions have been updated and some of the website content revised in order to clarify the service provided and avoid any confusion or people being mislead.

Our apologies if anybody was mislead.

A mailshot is being sent out to our members so that everybody is informed.

    Many thanks

The "gem" condition quoted in #26 (which allows them to decide not to provide their services if they choose not to) has been "updated":

Free Motor Legal is not an insurance policy, it is an accident management service. As such, Free Motor Legal endeavours to provide all service described, however cannot be guaranteed, subject to the circumstances of the claim.
Can anyone see any difference in the meaning?

It will be little consolation for anyone who gave up their "insurance policy" (which can't offer a service then make you agree the service can be withdrawn at their "discretion") to go with this "free" accident management service to save only to discover they don't guarantee to provide you any service at all!

This is their proud boast on their website (separated by pages and pages from this condition stating that the best you can hope for is them "endeavouring" to provide the service):

There is absolutely no catch what so ever...
    Still smoke and mirrors

If registered, will www.freemotorlegal.co.uk pursue a members claim for:
    *Insurance excess
    *Car hire charges
    *Repair cost

    Caused by:

*Substantial object falls from a vehicle travelling ahead
*Object lands into the path of a freemotorlegal members car
*Object appears within a blink of an eye, evasive action not possible
*Object is hit, causing substantial damage to the freemotorlegal members car

freemotorlegal members car travelling behind, when object fell from vehicle ahead, incident occured on motorway, both vehicles travelling in region of 65mph, same direction.

Details of driver, insurance and private vehicle carrying object all obtained at the scene.

I looked into this recently (we have 2 cars and 3 motorbikes).
I decided I wanted a proper insurance policy with FOS and FSCS protection.
I went with memonline in the end because they met my requirements for proper insurance at low cost.

I have not used them but jsut wanted to point out that there are "proper" low cost alternatives.
