It's awful isn't it? Ah well, the item sold to someone else for the proper price about 20 minutes later... made me smile.... Karma's going to bite me for that, isn't it? :D

:rotfl:I'm not sure that would be karmically fair - after all you will be using that money for your business and much needed and loved things. And maybe she will figure out that she need that cuppa and ear to bend not a designer wotsit, which wouldn't happen if you had sold it low

Karma is going to pat you on the head and send you off with a smile
that poor woman could very well have been a hoarder so you saved her from herself :)
if she is supposed to have one she will find another :) that would be karma

however karma really will work in your favour if you spend the money on chocolate to share with us :)

    Morning

This is going to be a post and run - so apols.

Last night I spent some of my Christmas and Birthday M&S vouchers. It's taken me a while, and I still have some left because I'm not very good at spending any more.

I managed to buy a jumper and one of those mini balcony bbq 'tubs'. I love both of these, and have wanted one of these BBQs for a few years now. I also bought food - because the fridge is very bare, and I have no 'real' money this month and rent to pay.

Today, friends are dropping off a sofa bed while I am at work. I've bought it from them at the price they asked, without a quibble. As they're in the house, I know they will see that I've been to M&S, and that I've bought a little BBQ.

And here's the kicker - which is in no way a judgement of these very wonderful friends. Rather a quick dabble into my clearly dodgy psyche! - I really feel like I have to leave a note to explain that I used vouchers for all of these purchases, not cash.

Somewhere along the way, I've turned into that person who is scared to admit they've been into a shop and bought a non-essential. I'm so used to constantly telling people that I can't afford to do things; misplacing friends along the way because I can't keep up with their lifestyle; and not being asked to do things because everyone assumes I'll have to say no. And let's be honest - money's become a bit of an obsession that I probably bore people rigid about. Arghhh!!

But you know what - in writing this entry, it strikes me that it's not surprising that I get so down about the lack of cash. I've become so obsessed about it and what I *can't* do, that I've forgotten all the wonderful things that I *can* do!

I'd forgotten that my friends will be thrilled at the fact that I'm thinking of spending time outside in my very unloved garden, and cooking veggie kebabs on the bbq - and no doubt, will want an invite in return for bringing dessert!

I'd forgotten that I am not my lack of money. And that stops right now. Just as soon as I've finished my porridge and very posh M&S blueberries. :D

You have yourself a great day, lovelies - and remember; you are far, far more than the sum of your bank balance.

RIGHT NORA you just listen to me

dont you DARE start explaining yourself to others - you have no reason too
how do they know I did not spring a surprise visit on you and leave the food for you as a gift - would they need to know that - of course not

I think it is a shame that you have to use the vouchers for food - and not to spoil yourself as was intended

I know I am saving for something really special and am so lucky that is the case
I know others of you are struggling just to eat pay rent etc and some are getting more into debt - perhaps because of a partner or child

I am one of the few very lucky ones on here

BUT I still feel like you do about explaining things to others
enjoy the time with your new bbq invite everyone you can think of and tell them to bring you chocolate :)
you deserve to have nice times and if those nice times can be cost efficient even better

I hope you really enjoy the weekend and practice with that bbq

I got pulled up by Missus A!! :D
You're so right - and the thing is, there's no way these particular friends would even think that way. It's all on me - and I have to tell you that I was really shocked with myself. In fact, I wrote the diary entry to stop myself writing a note for the friends - and I've given myself a *very* stern talking to, I can tell you!!

And just between you and I, there's been some very nice spoily-treats in amongst that M&S food.... *hides cherry pie behind the tomatoes* so please don't think I'm in any way being hard done by just because I've used the vouchers for food as well as a very pretty bbq...apparently I just needed to remind myself that I'm not hard done by! :rotfl:

But while I'm here.. *sidles up to Missus A, slides over an unmolested chocolate hobnob and a cuppa* thank you, lovely.

Thank you , very partial to a hob nob and a cuppa never goes a miss

Do to your post I messaged my daughter tonight told her I feel so mean for giving to her brother all the time and she doesn't get anything
She reminded me if it weren't for me she wouldn't have her house as I lent her the deposit interest free
But she owes me for the dog food so she is keeping twenty of that and we are menu planning for her and her partner to celebrate his first week anniversary of moving in with her
You see I am just like you those who love us don't question they just accept as we do of them

I think you got there by the end of the post, Nora... and it's probably good to have recorded your detour, not least because you've now had a righteous scolding from Aaleigha to keep you on track in future!

I'd also like to point out that as you say, the friends who care about money and 'being kept up with' will no longer be the ones coming round to your house... so you don't need to worry about what your proper friends think :D
