    You left out a bit:

If you were offered a full refund, as the OP was, and £10 on top of that, as the OP was... oh, and you keep the purchased product, would you still be fuming quite so much?

Being a reasonable person, I bet you would be highly delighted. :D

I think it would be more akin to ordering a sofa and being sent a cupboard that you neither wanted nor needed.

It does depend on the context of the item in question. If I'd ordered an item and paid for express delivery because it was needed urgently I'd be very annoyed if I was sent something completely different, even if a refund was offered - I didn't get the item I ordered in the timescale I had been promised which could leave me in a potential difficulty, and instead now have a useless item and still need to order the thing I actually want from someone else.

If it's a £2 item I didn't care much about, I'd probably go neutral. If I'd paid for express delivery for an item I needed fairly urgently, then I would possibly go negative, depending on what the seller's response was - if they urgently sent out the correct item at no additional cost to me, probably neutral. If they simply refunded (even with a goodwill gesture) and had no intention of providing the correct item it would absolutely be a negative.

In my case, despite the refund, they continued to advertise and sell the item with an incorrect description and photo (think they are still doing it now)

    Negative. Scumbags!!!
