  • Tax year is such a pain isn't it LIL - it's good that you have the cash to the side though, I know someone who just spends everything and then hopes they have enough to pay the bill - crazy!

Exciting times looking at stuff for your new house - make sure you use Quidco if buying building supplies etc as there are a few big DIY names on there.

Let us know what sort of decorating you're planning - I love hearing about what people are doing with their homes

I read you are using your fathers car for now but I was in a similar situation to you.

I was driving round in a VW Tiguan for 18 monhs before I decided enough is enough, it's a nice car n' all but I'd rather have the money. Sold it for 18.5k, cashe dthe rest and purchased a 1k Mercedes 190d with 113k on the clock.

Okay, this really was extreme but I ran it on waste vegtable oil for 4 years, putting a further 110k on the clock before deciding to sell it for something newer. I sold the old Merc for 1k with 223k on the clock :D

I then purchased a £2000 BMW Touring Diesel with 148k on the clock and I've been running round in that ever since (now at 163k) this is a vast improvement on the Merc in terms of performance. Do I miss the Tiguan? Nope...if you aim to spend between 2-3k you can pick up some real bargains.

Hey there des thanks for popping in actually very similar situations my car was a audi tts on a 2011 plate hold they value well in todays market aournd 18-22k for 2010-2011 plates and mine was mega low mileage of 28k

As you say extreme change i am now driving my old mans puegot partner disabled van on a 08 plate its nice enough i worked it out and yearly i save myself at least 2.5-3k not having a car :]

As i say i will keep the money for now and when i do finally move out i will get myself a car but i kinda enjoy putting in £20 of fuel and getting 200+miles

Im a sucker for cars tho always have been lol :rotfl:
