How do you sleep at night working for a company that sells unroadworthy cars?
  • How convenient of them. I am puzzled why they called you when walking across the showroom floor would've been cheaper.

Nope, you've completely lost me. Are you saying I work for Car Giant? They do a lot of posting on forums, do they??

You quite clearly do. There's plenty of companies that post about themselves on forums and social networks.

So, your hypothesis is that anyone who has had a good experience with a company (in this instance AA Warranty and Car Giant) must, by definition, work for them?

I posted so that anyone searching for details on the AA Warranty from Car Giant could get some information. I researched it before taking it out and found a few threads on here. Consequently I thought I should add to the conversation.

Yes, I've never posted here before and have a "newbie - be nice to me" log which you choose to ignore, but I have never had anything to post here before and you need to start somewhere.

Have a look at my phraseology and tell me I sell used cars

Didn't say you sell used cars, back office I'm guessing, marketing or warranty sales somewhere.

You dig up an old thread with a !!!! and bull story about how wonderful the Car Giant warranty is.

Then when members point out you've actually been stiffed, you suddenly get a call righting all wrongs and Car Giant are your saviour.

Next you'll be telling us they've called again and covered the cost of the service and sent a bunch of flowers for the trouble.

If you do work for them you've done an absolutely awful job of representing them. I now picture a company that pressure sells useless warranties, sells unserviced, unroadworthy vehicles and ignores consumer rights.

I don't work for them, but I am happy with them. I will leave it there and as it is an old thread no doubt no one will find it and it won't matter. But if someone is looking to buy a car from them and is debating whether or not to take out the AA Gold Warranty with them (which is how I found this thread) my experience is that it is a good thing.

Anyway, fun chatting with you, I will now get on with my day (which does not involve anything to do with cars or car warranties!)
  • The equivalent VW warranty would have paid out zip as it would have been in the first month of ownership, pre-existing and probably wear and tear.

Missing the point. This would not, if it were true, be a warranty issue.

It'd be a "Why the !!!! have you sold me a car with !!!!ed bushes? I want them fixed!" issue.

That's true, and CG would, apparently, have fixed them for me as I had only bought the car the day before. But I didn't think it through and thank goodness I didn't as I have had it sorted at Citygate VW in Colindale for a net cost of £20. I was impressed with them too as they gave me a lift home when I dropped my car in for its service.

Sorry, I make the net cost £519.

£499 for the warranty you didn't need to buy.
£20 for a contribution to work that should have been carried out, FOC, by the selling dealer.
