Yes exactly which is why they should take monthly payment for actual usage

Just think of it as a buffer system, as that is all it is. Nobody is stealing either way, it is just a process to smooth out payments.

thelight, you are caring way too much about this. Don't let this kind of stress into your life, it isn't worth it.

Looks like Zog have just revised their cheapest tariff (Mercury 12)
Standing charge is now down to 9p per day plus vat across all regions, but unit prices are up. (probably about 10%)

It's there now. The new Mercury 12 tariff is £20 a year more for me on 10000kWhs of gas. Looks like energy prices are on the rise. Glad that I went for a fixed tariff a couple of months ago.

Weird. It had not changed when I first viewed your post this morning but has now. Yep, looks like prices are on the up. Last week the cheapest deal was £2 dearer than my current EDF, now £31 dearer and Zog coming 4th and 5th with Mercury 24 cheaper than 12 by £6.

We joined Zog a year ago and are so happy with them. Their website is minimum and don't bother with online account. But they email us a bill every month with a link to submit a meter reading quickly, which is so much quicker than the phone call/online account style other suppliers use. Plus they replied to our email requesting reduction of DD day after on two occasions. Fantastic, simple but efficient service. Also the cheapest. I'll give them 10/10.
