This is exactly what I would have thought, which makes me wonder at this stage, is this more likely an insurance mess up or indeed could it be down the the third parties (gentleman) choice?
It does just seem a little strange. He was a nice guy and very understanding to be quite honest and they generally were more concerned about myself and my other half and the little one at the time.0 -
If I was making a wild guess - Third Party was not insured so should not have been on the road.Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0

Well, he did have recovery service and also he was insured as my insurance company confirmed his details are valid and correct. He was an older fellow, maybe he wasnt fully comp. I really dont know. I dont see myself as being that lucky tbh.0 -
Do you know that he has made any contact with his own or your insurance company? As you said your insurance company had sent off documents?
You need to clarify with your own insurance company if they consider you to have claimed, as a claim against your insurance is still a claim, whether you made it or the other did. Either way you'll need to declare the accident in the 'any accidents, incidents etc in the last 5 years bit' regardless of any claim that was or wasn't made.
If the TP does make a claim and it isn't resolved by the time you come to renew it may be worth renewing with the same company to avoid any insurance cancellation issues which another poster on this forum recently had.0 -

Probably was insured comp. Most likely his insurers are dealing with his claim and awaiting costs before seeking recovery from your insurer. From November to now really isn't a long time in motor claims.0 -
If I have to stay with Aviva, I just hope that they do not raise my insurance by hundreds and hundreds of pounds. The new car is probably going to give me the best chance of being low on insurance. But hey ho,0

How old is your current car and what problems have you been having with it? Surely it would be cheaper to carry on using this car and use the savings to insure it.0

My old car is a 53 fiesta flame. More and more is going wrong with that one at the moment. Sinking way too much money into it.
The new one is a fiesta 14 plate, with the ecoboost engine so only a 1 litre and no tax required to be paid. My insurance has been amended and already its reduced by 35-40 a month0 -
When you got the new test quotes, did you also put 0 no claims as well as the accident?0
