These months affect us all, but it's not taken you long to get back on the diary trail. Following your advice i had a sneaky peek at the MMM blog. Not sure if its fully for me, but i'm definitely willing to give it a whirl!

Thanks Em and Jimmy. MMM does seem a little extreme in places, but in my gut I found it inspiring so its on my favourites links now. Only spent around £8 yesterday, need to pop out for some potatoes to go with today's chicken dinner so will be a very low spend day today

Have a good one folks :) xx

    Good Morning friends,

ATB reporting for duty! I am pleased to report that I have just paid OPs to bring the mortgage down to £155k, one month ahead of target! Woohoo! :):):):) Very happy lady here.

So that's me, right up to the OP limit for the year. From here onwards, all spare money is being stashed into the ISA until we reach our limit and can make (hopefully) a big OP in January when our new 10% allowance for OPs kicks in.

Savings target is £16,000 by 31.12.15, wish us luck! :):)

    ATB xx

    Good Morning friends,

What a beautiful day it is here in Yorkshire. I have given myself a few hours off today to do absolutely nothing and just enjoy the weather. DD & DS are both at nursery on Thursdays, so it's usually my dedicated work day but instead I worked super hard yesterday to get it all done so I could have a few hours peace instead today.

DH and I were chatting last night about our MF journey. The ultimate aim is to be MF so we can enjoy the benefits of time as opposed to money. Time really is the most precious commodity in this life, and without a mortgage we can choose how much/little we want to work. We also want to move abroad :):):) and enjoy a cheaper life in the sun and raise our children to be bilingual. However, DH has stipulated that before we do any of that he wants ten days in the Carribean at a super 5* all inclusive resort :):):)

I have a pair of shoes to put on ebay today, and will steam clean the floors too, then its time to read my book in the sun.

Have peaceful Thursdays one and all xx

It must be motivating to think of all the treats you will be able to enjoy in a mortgage-free life. Your plans sound wonderful and it's amazing what a stress-free life you could enjoy once the mortgage is paid off - so exciting! :j

This life may seem like a long time away yet but the way you are attacking your mortgage, I think the time will fly by.

Have you got a plan of how you're going to achieve the next goal? Maybe breaking it down into smaller chunks might be helpful.

    Have a great day!

Hi PrincessLou, thank you for your lovely comments. Nope, I'm not a planner really, more of a "lets plod along and take it as it comes" kinda gal!

Savings have hit the £1k mark which is pleasing. Work is fairly quiet for both DH and I at the moment, which always unnerves me slightly but, being self employed, we are used to having quieter spells so mustn't dwell on it.

    G'night all x :):):)

You've done so well ATB!!! Congratulations on reaching your OP allowance for the year and for reaching 155k a month before your target :). What an achievement! Also great idea to stash the extra cash away in an ISA till you can OP next year, 16k is a huge amount so good luck with that.

It's wonderful to talk about the day when you are mortgage free. Alot of my friends & family didn't think we could do it and the prospect of sending thousands of pounds away to the bank every month was a fools idea. It's only now that they see we have gone from 140k to 120k in 2 years and now heading towards being under 100k, that we are not fools and financially we are better off than many 50 year olds atm (we're in our late 20's). We will be mortgage free by the time we're 33 years old, not bad going ;).

Hope to see an update soon - take care xx

    Hope you are ok?
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
