The clunking from the rear when going over speed bumps sounds to me suspiciously like a problem with the suspension, which could affect handling.

Hello i need a bit help if possible please
My 51 plate vectra diesel feels like it loses a lot of traction in the wet while turning right, only while damp.
I thought it was the rear struts as there was a clunking noise at the rear of the car while going over bumps.

Replaced the struts and the car does feel better although still doesnt feel right when turning right especially when its wet.

    My tyres are
    Front- autogrip grip 200
    Rear- insa turbo eco evolution
All good tread. At 31 psi.
I still get a clunking from the o/s rear of the car when going over speedbumps or when i turn full lock or near to full lock

Any help would be great thanks

    Lee
clunking over speed bumps is most likely a droplink or a bush in the axle or anti roll bar.

who changed the struts? you should have asked the garage to diagnose your clunk

There's your main problem, sh*t tyres.
They might as well be "Ditch finder XL" or "Duper Turbo Hedgehog Monkey".

The fronts are about £40 each, cheap and nasty.
Those rears are remoulds I believe.

On mine I use 215/55/16 Falcon XE914's, at £85 per corner, they're almost as good as the original Bridgestone Turanza (£130+ per corner).

Never believe tyre fitters when they claim all tyres are the same, they're not the most intelligent of folk, otherwise they wouldn't be fitting tyres for a living would they?

On the Vectra, your shocks and springs are most likely shot, they only last about 40k miles. The rears always go first.

On mine, I used after market anodised springs (£150) and Bilstein B4 shocks, they'll last the life of the car. The genuine items will again fail after 40k, after costing £300+ for the springs and similar for the shocks.

Checked for snapped springs? Common fault on the vec-c.

As others have said rubbish tyres won't help.

Get new tyres and alignment checked and report back here...

Yes they will if it is below 10c.

Actually, depends on what you are comparing with, but I got year round improvement in grip from mine. They tend to be chunkier and more able to shift water, so although the dry weather performance will be compromised in the warm (simply less rubber on the road not at optimum temperature), in reality, most drivers in the UK would have a safer handling car with all season tyres (many of which are compliant with European winter tyre regulations) and where are you really going to be helped by a few percent of extra grip on a dry weather tyres on UK roads in the summer? If you "need" that, you aren't driving sensibly on public roads.
