Car slips/skids while turning right
Hello i need a bit help if possible please
My 51 plate vectra diesel feels like it loses a lot of traction in the wet while turning right, only while damp.
I thought it was the rear struts as there was a clunking noise at the rear of the car while going over bumps.
Replaced the struts and the car does feel better although still doesnt feel right when turning right especially when its wet.
My tyres are
Front- autogrip grip 200
Rear- insa turbo eco evolution
All good tread. At 31 psi.
I still get a clunking from the o/s rear of the car when going over speedbumps or when i turn full lock or near to full lock
Any help would be great thanks
Lee

First time was 12 degrees
Happened at 8 too
First time it happened was a long declined right turn i was doing about 19mph and car skidded and i done 180 degree turn0 -
I'd get the car checked out by someone who knows what they're doing.0

OP, were you applying the handbrake just before you spun your car around 180?
Clunking could be drop links."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0 -
I took it to my mates garage who checked the bushes but he says there was hardly any play
So replaced struts to eliminate possible causes (they did need replaced anyway)0 -
Thanks for reply foxy
No didnt apply handbrake at all are you thinking maybe the rear pads have binded on?0 -
Maybe, the calipers could be sticking, add that to the wet road, turning right with the extra torque of the diesel engine.
Vectra suspension components are generally not very good, had a couple of them and they always rattle somewhere !"Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0 -
you hhink i should try the droplinks?0

What your describing is characteristic early vectra handling, they really are that bad, Clarkson was slated for pulling this loss of control whilst turning after describing them as a death trap, they do skid out, terrible chassis.
All you can do is fit less wide winter tyres to improve wet grip and slow down.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
Combine that with remoulds on the back and ditch finders on the front means it will do horrible things0
