I got some Pardale V tablets from my vet for my dog. She is already on Metacam which worked well for a few months then seemed to stop helping her.
The Pardale V was to be given as well as the Metacam.
I have checked out the ingredients and they contain 400mg paracetamol and 9mg codeine per tablet. The vet charged £44 per 100 tablets but their content is almost identical to co codamol (500mg paracetamol, 8mg codeine) costing about £2 for 32 at a pharmacy.
Is there any reason why my dog should not have those instead?

Google "dogs and paracetamol" and you'll see a lot of cautionary tales.
You could certainly speak to your vet about swapping and go with what they suggest.

Pardale V are licensed for dog use VM # 10434/4034 since 1993. CAn search on the Defra website
VMD Defra
I've been giving these to my dog for nearly 4 weeks now - every day as per vet's advice - so they better HAD be licensed for use in dogs!!!
Just tried to run that search but I don't know the answers to some of the required fields on the form so couldn't get a definite response
