Now I'm really confused. It says to give up to 3.5 tablets every 8 hours for a max of 5 days and not to exceed the duration of treatment.

The vet told me to give 1 tablet 3 times a day for 30 days.

    Who is right I wonder?

Took my dog back to the vet today. Vet said she is now in end stage osteoarthritis and has given her Tramadol to be taken as well as the Pardale V and the Metacam.

As the tramadol is not licensed for use in dogs I had to sign a form agreeing that this has been pointed out to me.

Vet says I now have to consider my dog's quality of life.

If her pain can't be controlled it may be kinder to put her to sleep.

I'm hoping this won't have to happen yet so praying the Tramadol willl help her.
  • Very sad indeed. Good luck with it and hope it does the trick. Always a sad time, but hopefully the medication can give a decent quality of life to enjoy some more time.

    Fingers crossed for you.

I think I mentioned it on a previous thread of yours, did you ever look into turmeric/golden paste as a supplement? It get some rave reviews, it helped my nan with her osteoarthritis symptoms too. Might be worth a try, it's going to be gentler on the body than lots of strong painkillers too.

Lots of other ideas for supplements here too

I haven't looked into it krlyr but I will do.

Lucy had one tramadol this morning and was asleep within the hour. That's good in one way as she got a bit of respite from the pain but I don't want her life to just consist of sleeping now. I want her to enjoy walking and playing with my other dog and getting quality time.

I'll check out the turmeric and other supplements. I'm on a mission now to save my Lucy if I can.
