You have to keep an eye on their website. They open up the UK applications sporadically.Got Halifax Classic to reduce my interest rate by 5% woohoo - 10/06/08 Thanks MSE!

No one answered you so I can - no! There are no minimum hours. If you leave your account dormant for more than a month or so they may suspend it (but tell you first) but you can answer as many or as few questions as you like :cool:0 -

I am interested in knowing this too.
From reading the thread it seems that a lot of people enjoy working for AQA, even though the pay is quite low. Does the company give you extra incentives to perform well?0 -

No extra incentives as such in terms of money or gifts. There are a couple of parties each year, almost always held in London, which everyone is invited to, and are usually good fun. When a new book is released, AQA will usually send all the researchers a copy... it's our contributions that have gone into it, after all
I think the main reason people enjoy it, is that it's a very flexible job, and also an interesting one too. It's quite satisfying to find a piece of information that other researcher's have struggled with, be it something very technical, or something personal about a customer that you know will surprise them. If you texted in asking what we knew about you, and we told you the name of your pet, or your favourite restaurant, or one of your nicknames, I would hope you'd be impressed!0 -
Thank you for your quick and informative reply, Wings - the sign of a top AQA researcher.
I've read through the whole of this thread now, really interesting to see everybody's thoughts about the work. I have another question if you don't mind.
It seems that sometimes there aren't enough questions to go around at certain times. Does AQA make this worse by 100% automating answers to the questions they must get asked all of the time like "What's my name?", "What's the meaning of life?" etc. In that respect, taking potentially easy earnings away from researchers, or are those answers always selected from the database?
Sorry to be nosey; just weighing up the viability of even earning a satisfying amount if I get through the application next time AQA open them up for the UK.0 -
No, there are no automated answers. However, there is a database that helps researchers locate the answers to the most popular questions.
Researchers then check and use the answer that suits.0 -
Thanks BTB1.
That's good to know, as some of the top earners can't be answering hard questions all of the time!
