They sent me an application form yesterday and I sent it back this morning - will it still be considered do you think?

I hope that doesn't mean that all of the time I spent last night on the application was wasted :-<
  • I think it just means they're not accepting any more applications. I just got a reply from them saying they are still dealing with my application and will let me know the outcome soon.

They will have a number of applicants from which they will pick the amount of people they still need.
  • AQA's recruitment is a bit of a cycle anyway. They're frequently having to let people go and get replacements. Plus, i'd imagine there's quite a few people that leave themselves. It isn't like jobs in other sectors where a worker would work in the same place his whole life (though, that's increasingly rare these days too!).

Bit of a query as I'm considering applying for this once they re-open applications (which as others have mentioned, is fairly likely... It's more a case of when I should imagine..).

I have understood you need to register this as a source of income for tax purposes; how difficult is the tax aspect? It's something I've never had any need to look into as I've always just had 'normal' jobs where I pay normal PAYE tax.
    On the up :D

  • I recently became an AQA researcher and I would like to tie this work in with my other freelance work, under my LTD company (to simplify tax and NI).

Does anybody know whether AQA will be able to make payments to the company, if I supply them with a monthly 'services rendered' invoice to pay?

I have emailed my SR for advice, but if anybody knows the answer and can let me know this evening, it would be appreciated. :)

    Many Thanks,
  • Just invoice them and they will pay you inc VAT. Press your SR to tell the office so that you are not payed in the normal way.
  • Does aqa automatically tax you?
  • No, AQA does not automatically tax you. You must register as self employed within 3 months of starting, and will then receive quarterly NI bills (£2.10 a week I think). You then complete a tax return at the end of the year, and if applicable, pay tax. It's quite easy.
  • It isn't that difficult. You have to register as self employed within 3 months, and submit a tax return at the end of the year. This is quite easy, and a useful skill to learn and add to your CV, I find.

AQA are no longer hiring in the UK. All positions have been filled.
    hello, how do you know?

I only ask because I filled in the form at the weekend and was rejected today, so wondered if this was something to do with it.

I thought I answered well too!
