AQA successful applicants??

  • Hey guys,

I haven't used this site before but i thought i might as well make a post seeing as i received the results of my application this afternoon. As you can see by the lack of exclamation marks and smileys, i didn't get in.

I am rather disappointed and ever so slightly surprised because i thought i answered the questions to an AQA standard (i judged this according to some of the answers i had received from them). I really could do with the job at the moment too, which is the most gutting thing.

Currently mulling over whether i should give it another go. On the one hand, i think i gave it my best this time or very close to my best, so i don't see how applying again is going to really benefit m. On the other hand, i could just have been unlucky or given one of the harder tests  What do you guys think? Did many of you get in on a second attempt? Had you tried your best the first time round? I'll probably give it a few days and then try again but for now, i'm just disappointed.

Well done to all those that have been successful, hard luck to those who haven't, and good luck to those currently awaiting results.

    Aww, hard luck MS6!
I think the best bet is to re-apply for an application form ASAP. As we all know the AQA people are very busy now so it will take a couple of days for it to come through, in which time I would send a couple more texts to AQA (maybe the questions you felt were difficult in the test).
Don't lose heart - alot of people have been accepted on the 2nd or 3rd attempts, so all is good!

Good luck and welcome to the forum btw :)
  • Thank you for your reply, TIAL.

I've gone back a few pages and i'm going to attempt some of the S&G tests that another user linked to. If i do well enough on those, i will definitely reapply.

I'm also thinking that the fact i don't have a degree could have hindered my application. Quite possibly.

And thank you for the warm welcome :)

The fact that I didnt have a degree didnt stop them accepting me, did you list A-levels and GCSEs and stuff? I know it doesnt seem necessary but it might be a good indicator if you dont have a degree like me :)
  • I did put down my A Level and GCSE results, but i never stated which subjects i had taken. Perhaps the fact that i had taken, and received an A in, English A Level could have boosted my application?

It's also comforting to hear that there are others without degrees that have been given jobs. Gives me a little bit of hope i suppose.

They are extremely busy at the moment, so I'd wait working days - and probably 7 working days at that. Expect a bit of a wait before you start the actual work, as you'll have to wait in the queue for training too no doubt!

Thanks. Still no reply today, so I'll give them till Monday before chasing them up.
No point rushing them if there's going to be a wait for training anyway!

No, I did list my A and I did not get in either, at least we can be disappointed together.
Real men never follow instructions; after all they are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to put something together. :p

    Heh, indeed

Have you decided whether or not you're going to try again?
  • I've just completed my test but could only see 10 questions

Is that all there were? I was expecting a long test with 20-40 questions especially when it said it should take no more than 2 hours!
