You'd prefer to wait 6-12 months to find somewhere you both agree on rather than live together now and house hunt from there? Doesn't make much sense really.0

The houses available might mean you both have to make a compromise - see what's there and have a look around each area before you make any decisions. In the grand scheme of things 5 or 10 miles isn't a big difference if it means getting the right house for you IMO.0

When did I put a 6-12 month time frame on this? We're looking to move (well find a house at least) ideally in the next 3 months or so, But no real rush as it needs to be the right place.
We don't have any reason to rush to live together and force ourselves to rent. We're making it work living apart for now, but have made the decision to buy together. That's not in question.
Obviously we will find a solution in time - I was just asking how other people that have found themselves in similar situations have come to a resolve that suits both parties.0
