Preloved, not heard from seller

Yesterday I bought a second hand graphics card on Preloved from another member(only just registered), I negoiated a price but as he was based nowhere near me, we agreed he would post it with tracking, he asked for all my details, address, etc and then I sent the money by bank transfer, he said he didn't use E Bay etc.

However, I have heard nothing since then, no PM's not returning my texts asking for clarification, not returning my calls.

He does say only call at evenings and its only one day,, but I am a bit concerned, he is also advertising some old school console gaming stuff so its a bit strange. He did give his phone number and I don't want to do anything premature as he may get the huff and rescind the sale(if it is genuine)and its a massive bargain(too good to be true?)

I called this evening and still no answer, I don't think I can retract my BACs transfer

Do you have the seller's full details?
    I.e. name, address, phone number.

Did you check those details, maybe with 192.com or something similar?

No, you cannot retract a bank transfer.

You only hope is that he sends the goods, or if not you will need to pursue him through the small claims court.

How much money are we talking about?

    good post below by weal

In addition to this, I would try a little test to better gauge the situation. Set up a new profile (or use a friend's one) and send an enquiry for one of the other listed items. You'll soon find out what is going on....

tx for replies, I am usually much more cautious than this, I wasn't too well/not thinking straight when I bought it. it was for 220 pounds, still not sure it isn't legit it is only two days, he was offering people to come and look at it. I only have a surname and his BAC details and his mobile number, stupid really, it was because it was so cheap. one thing, the minute the money was sent there were no more replies after about six discussing the deal.

'setting up another profile', I may try that, but he said he was getting lots of replies and may ignore it.

btw, the ad is still up, would he be doing this to others?

Hopefully I'm wrong and there is a genuine reason for the lack of communication, but the above quotes would start massive alarm bells off for me.

Yes, would he doing this to all other respondents?, if so, then the money would add up. he does have another ad for some interesting stuff which is not as valuable/must buy, etc.

btw, preloved will have some details surely, how much longer should I give it before contacting them?

btw, if anyone wants to try Daytona suggests above, I can Pm them with details, don't want to go public with the personal details just yet.
  • Id contact them right away. did you read their info on buying on the site? May be helpful in the future

I'd try enquiring after the same item and see if they're still "selling" it.
Q: What kind of discussions aren't allowed?
A: It goes without saying that this site's about MoneySaving.

Q: Why are some Board Guides sometimes unpleasant?
A: We very much hope this isn't the case. But if it is, please make sure you report this, as you would any other forum user's posts, to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.
  • Anyone want to try and he to see if he is still selling?, you have to be full member though, PM me.

  • I've contacted Preloved, they don't have a phone number though, real grey area with these internet companies.
