Summoning to court for mobile use while driving

Perhaps those nice people at Brake could do a campaign on device use and its dangers, or is it just speed that kills, and not numpty drivers being distracted by technology?
I often wonder exactly what so is important about text a driver is sending?
Life or death communications or can you pick up some milk on your way home guff.
Next time your pulled OP understand the attitude test, its a vital skill to learn and can often result in a mere rollocking rather than points and fines.0 -
I suspect most people would be less annoyed if it wasn't for the fact you used your phone, but for the fact even now you are finding pitiful reasons to excuse it and clearly not coming round to the fact you are in the wrong.
I for one hope they throw the book at you, had you shown some genuine remorse i'd think a much smaller penalty would be all that's needed.0 -
It doesn't, only that I shouldn't have set foot out of the house and called in sick as people do.
For god's sake, if I knew this cop was trying to give me a warning and about to hand out an 'FPN' to me and that was that, why would I be hell bent on getting myself into court. I'm telling you, if he'd have used the word 'warning' instead of 'cautioning' I would have understood and paid no fuss. It's going to court because of my misunderstanding of what he meant by caution. Thinking about it, I suppose they haven't got time to explain themselves and I'll go through with it and plead guilty which I was doing on part of using my phone when he told me about it, however I wasnt willing to accept the not wearing seat belt.
Thanks all for your help.
You do have an interesting attitude to life.:cool:0 -
For some reason the Quote will not work on my computer

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eqYxE0dhBs - this is in several parts and is quite graphic. Extremely effective though.0 -
You don't need to use an extreme example to prove a point, I am also blessed with common sense to understand what you are getting across.
With all due respect, you seem unable to comprehend that it doesn't matter if you did it once or a million times, you could still have been faffing with your Sat Nav and had an accident. That's common sense too.
Good to see they're pursuing it, you'll be looking at 3 points and a CU80 endorsement - and the pretty hefty hike insurance companies (rightly) usually add for that offense.0 -

On the contrary, clearly I do. Your argument doesn't hold water. If you were that well-endowed with common-sense you'd know when to shut your mouth when confronted with a policeman, and know not to try and find an excuse for your irresponsible behaviour.0 -
Honestly do you not even understand the danger in this?
A £600 handset and no cash to buy a cheap holder from Halfords to stay safe & legal.
Bearing in mind this post:Dekota wrote:I made about £10,107 with about £7,500 coming from the lay on Andy murray yesterday, £1,500 coming from horse MBS and sharbs and the remaining on football and golf combined. I made a mistake the weekend before last which cost me £100
About matched betting, I am now even less sympathetic (OK, I'm not... I was never even slightly sympathetic) to the OP's pleas. In fact I now hope more than ever that they get a bloody big fine, points, a ban, court costs and a massive insurance hike.
Can afford to blow £100 on a 'mistake' but not £10 on a phone holder. Pathetic.
No doubt now we'll all be insensitive bullies for not agreeing with the OP. After all, they are a care worker, you know. They said that in the first sentence. It's like that 'I'm disabled so I should be able to drive in the middle lane all the time' thread we had a few weeks ago.0 -

PCN and police, is there a link?
Sorry to disappoint but as already pointed out the police won't benefit.
Boris probably did from your ticket though.0 -

Powerful stuff and should be showed in all schools and colleges as well as national media as to the possible implications of sending a quick text0
