Apple or Retailer warranty/responsibility?

Yes if bought from Apple they tend to offer more goodwill than if bought through third parties and it seems to depend on the individual Genius that deals with it. That said, on paper, they don't offer anything more than the one year and leave the rest to Consumer Law.jbainbridge wrote: »The impression I've been given from Apple is that if you buy it direct from them they will cover you upto 2 years under the SOGA. In fact I had an ipad replaced by them when the retailer refused to deal with it.

Yes, I've had an iPhone 5 exchanged well after the 12 months, (it was 15-17 months old) without any problem at Apple as it was supplied by them. No argument or hassle to get it replaced either, I noticed that it said "Consumer Law coverage" on the form under "warranty status".====0 -
Forget the warranty, and forget '2 years under SOGA' - that's not true - it should be of reasonable quality and last a reasonable amount of time. Apple don't get to choose how long they deal with SOGA for and neither do Carphone Warehouse. I think the phone shouldn't be broken, and I think most of us agree that is reasonable, so Carphone Warehouse should repair or replace.0

Thank you everyone for your very helpful responses.
It looks like I'll need to convince CPW that a screen should last longer than 18months (a reasonable time) to get them to fix the screen under SOGA.
The temperature outside ranged from 0 to -8, but we weren't outisde all day, maybe a couple of hours twice a day when walking from the hotel to a restaurant etc.0
