Yesterday (on the old thread) Honey Bear said:
I'm not sure which wise person it was who said if you do the three things you don't want to do first, the rest of the day will into place - a bit like snacking on frogspawn, probably. Anyway, I have a list as long as all the paper in the world of things I could do, should do, would do if I had the motivation and that list never, ever shrinks. It's that list that drives me mad. ... I'll never be on top of it, but after the three things are done each day I can stop feeling as though 'I should be doing ....' something.

I'm with you, Honey Bear. My New Year resolution was to bring my Toots list down to a more manageable level, and I'm pleased to say that despite hospital visiting, meetings, a weekend away and various visitors here, I managed to shorten it considerably in January :D I've started trying to get the worst job of the day out of the way immediately after breakfast, and afterwards the rest never seem so bad.

I don't really follow the daily cleaning lists now, so my home might be fractionally dirtier than I would really like, but actually everywhere except the utility is tidy - that's just full of decluttered stuff waiting to go to the CS! - and now it only takes me a couple of hours to blast through the whole house a couple of times a month. This situation is only possible because of all the lists that I did follow on the threads over the past year (especially when we were having all the building work done, with the inevitable dust!) which have helped me to get the house in the state I want it. A very big thank you to Natty and Dusty and to all my Flyfriends for inspiring me.

    Today I must
    - send off the remaining family photo sheets (the Christmas season ends today)
    - do WM x3
    - deal with the sealant round the shower
    - take stuff to CS
    - collect DH's birthday present (at last!); will need to psych myself up to be strong on the price, as the watchmaker has gone way over the time he originally quoted for the repairs
    - hospital visit this afternoon; I don't think my friend will be moving to the care home today, but I will check first
    - buy bananas, milk and anything else I've run out of without noticing
    - collect my new specs
    - add more dates to my "Renewals" diary
    - do some work on the Old Wives' programme for the summer term
    - make time to sit with DH this evening and watch CTM on iPlayer.

Hope everyone has a good start to the week. (((Hugs))) and spoons to all who need them, and sticks thrown for BDs. See you later x

I hope your friends move from hospital to the care home goes smoothly Iona and she is looked after with love and care while there. Sounds like you have a lot on today's list so put some me time on it for yourself.
Got to sort mils money out for her today and double check her Drs appt, she's confinced it's Tuesday but I'd got Wednesday written in as the date she originally told me. I need to do her yearly money check as I didn't get round to it in jan, I don't think any things changed but like to make sure it's all ok for her.Ds2 is doing lighting for the school show so he'll be out a couple of nights this week and we are watching it one night, then he's got explorers winter camp next weekend not sure where that is we just have to take him to train station and pick him up again after its done. I've bought febs birthdays cards just need my dads pressie - need to ring step mum for ideas.
Also must email drum teacher to see if he'll sign drumming as a skill for DoE paperwork then that's ready to go back.
Need to reply to a family email and buy some stamps.
Need to also ring my mum as I've not done that for a couple of weeks.
Right better go and do something I suppose as none of it will do itself!

How on earth is it 10.30 already? I've been to Mr M and L*dl shopping, dropped off 2 I*ea bags for CS, had blood test then put shopping away and looked at the clock. Time flies when you're having fun!

Going to take shower curtain down in a minute and get bath mats etc and do a wash so that'll be done. Will do the bathroom today but kitchen needs attention as it just looks grim in there - if I wash up it'll help won't it :o. Had a bad weekend but new day today.

Bossy I hope the weigh in goes well today.

Crowdpleaser I am loving your idea of chilling with some knitting after you've done your jobs - might take that on myself as am still getting over my cold and have a nasty cough.

Cattysmum hope there isn't too much dust after your nephew does the skimming for you.

Froddington sorry to hear about Mischief :(

Right best let the chooks out first or the old girls will be intimidating the poor newbies. Catch you later.

Agree Mumof2 where is the day going.

    WM1 on the line
    WM2 in progress
DS1's bed stripped, stairs hoovered and spot cleaned

Off to do the rest of the hoovering now, bit chilly so that will warm me up nicely.

  • Quick update - procrastinated on the 'puter for too long and was about to get going when had a phone call! Was strong and said I have to finish this before I go for a walk - so this morning I have
    Washed kitchen windows and frames,
    Washed all tiles
    Washed all worktops
    Washed all small appliances
    cleaned cooker hood
    Cleaned all cupboard fronts
Cleaned glass in internal kitchen door
    cleaned inside back door
    wiped the bin (exterior)
swept the floor ready to mop
    WUDUPA
    1 x washing and drying - done

Now off to prep s cooker meal for tonight.
If chance will wash the kitchen floor on hands and knees
Then at 2 off for a walk with Dsis.

Hoping to manage to lose another half pound before tomorrow!

Need to do HHI still then that's me also doing my knitting this evening and one phone call.

Feel much better for getting something done - always knew I was a morning person.

Hope everyone else is OK and it's not as cold where you are as it is here!!

Wow JTTOU you've done loads! I'm a mornings person too but not that much

I have to say the area around my laptop looks so much nicer now; I had no idea how bad it had got. Done my washing up too so can see the worktop again. Lunch now and feed the dogs, then paid stuff, walk the dogs and hopefully squeeze in a little bit of me time before school run. That's the plan anyhow.
