Hey BenBen, just popped back on your thread to have a catch up. I'm so impressed you are doing well! I'm not a DFW but have aims like yourself and am thinking of starting something similar. You are inspirational, sounds like you are going to have a very happy Christmas!!

Morning all
Well, today is christmas decirations day and the weather outside is yucky !!! Don't think the forest will be too busy after al as most people will nip to the handy garden centre instead, so think we will wrap up warm, get the wellies on and trek off to the forest
The hardest it isn't getting the tree its putting the thing up - we bought one of those tubs for it to stand in a few years ago, but it needs someone to hold the tree straight and someone else to screw the base bit to hold it in place ... hopefully this year it will work and I won't have a wonky tree again
Think the carnival tonight will be a washout too

We are going to our local forest today for our tree and usually we have a great time. Referring to what you said earlier about being able to do free things like forests while DS is small, our kids love a day out in the forest and they're 13 and nearly nine (tomorrow). In fact when we went for our tree last year DS brought 4 friends and they loved it too so you might get away with the free things for a few years yet (or more realistically, maybe a mixture of free and paid for!).
Hope you have a great time, and our tree ends up wonky every year and there's 4 of us to help!!0 -
Car tax is due at the end of this month ... I have been putting £10 a month into savings towards it but it will cost £63 for 6 months so I need to find another £13 to make the total. Ideally I would pay the whole 12 months which works out £11 cheaper over the year, but I think if I go for 6 months at least I know I have the money for that. I need to make a bit extra from aqa this month to cover the extra £13 and at least then that will be a bill paid off without being overdrawnMortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

What might be an idea is paying 6 months now and saving up to pay 12 months in June. It works out cheaper to pay the 12 but by paying 12 months now you will end up paying your car tax every christmas - not the best time to find money.0

Thats a plan chicaholic ... as my electricity dd has gone to £35 a month and I have budgeted £50 I can put £10 of the extra money into the car tax pot instead  which will give me enough in June to pay for 12 months
thank you !!!
