Hi benben
poor ds, it is so hard on them at that age when they change class or teacher,:o
my eldest two are changing in sept to, now my eldest, no worries, loves school has loads of friends and does well at almost everything, so i'm really lucky.
my middle daughter has always had a slight problem with her speech, and sees a speech therapist.:o
we only found at once she left nursery class, that she had never spoken all day, every day that she was there. i came home broke heart, thinking my baby had spent all that time in her own head and not speaking to anyone.
thankfully the class she is in now has a really good teacher who tries to spend time with her and she is comming out of her shell.:D
but i;m worried that it maybe different in the next class.
she never shuts up at home, but you can not always make out what she says and bless her sometimes she has to repeat herself a lot to be understood.:o
and i think that why she didn't at school, she was sacred no one would understand.total -nov07 [strike]£25,526[/strike] jan08 [strike]£23,246[/strike] May08 [STRIKE]£21,171[/STRIKE] June 08 £20,9640 -
Thankyou CAC
I desperately want ds to settle at school, he is one of the youngest in the class, he's still 4 at the moment, but that excuse won't last forever
.... One more week then I can make a concerted effort over the summer with him

are the school helpful, our nursery were not and although i dont expect her to have special treatment, they didn't even tell me that for all that time the poor thing litteraly never said one word.
even though the speech therepist sent a letter and told the school what to do.
thankfully this year she has had a good teacher, and it really does make so much difference.
although i think its the hours we spend trying to make it fun that helps, but to have the school support really helps.
we just want it all to be perfect for them dont we
and for what its worth, i think you are doing an amazing job

20.00 arrived in my account from a mystery shopping company today which was most welcome
Ds had a better day today, he hit a child but apparently it was an accident this time
Other than that he was good today so we went to the park after school.
Last night I wasn't on here much as I was having yet another attempt at fixing my laptop, and it seems to have worked, its now only taking 2 or 3 minutes to load up instead of 35 :eek:I'm so proud of myself and its saved me a fortune

Thankyou CAC, I'm hoping to get to the summer holidays with no more major hiccups from him then work on him like mad over the summer to improve his writing / drawing skills as this seems to be the main problem and the reason he doesn't want to go up to year one
I forgot to mention that the 20 quid from the mystery shopping takes me over 2K saved so far this year which I'm really pleased with as originally I was aiming to save 2400 for the whole year :beer:Mortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

Hi Benben
Well done as ever with your mortgage target I love reading your diary it really is inspiring what can be done if you manage things well and work at it.
I really feel for you with your DS, its so clear how much time you put into him and I am sure it will all work out in the end but that doesn't stop us parents worrying does it...Tough job as well as rewarding as we all know.
You may have already thought of this as I know you work in a school anyway but I was thinking would tracing paper help your son with his pencil control? Print his favourite characters off the internet then ask him to trace over it maybe?
Also I was wondering how willing your ex OH is with your son? For example would he pay for him to have a tutor for an hour a week? One to one might build his confidence in the skills he is lacking at the moment, I know you can do so much to help but sometimes its hard to get them to concentrate as much for mum as they would with a stranger who comes to your home? Just a thought. When my son was struggling with his maths he was losing his confidence so I paid for him for a little while to have a one to one tutor at home, not because I wanted to push him at all but just because it broke my heart to see it was making him worried. He came on leaps and bounds after that. Just a suggestion and I'm sure he will be fine with the encouragement and support he gets from home.
Hope you have both had a good day today.
Take care

Thankyou KM, his father isn't much help tbh, didn't even know it was the summer holidays in a couple of weeks, thought it was half-term coming up  He thinks he's a great dad because he takes him to theme parks every time he sees him, but pays the minimum the csa say he has to pay and not a penny more  Tbh, I literally disregard he exists when it comes to ds life now, he knows so little about his day to day life and what he can and can't do that he has very little relevance to us these days
I hadn't thought about the tracing paper, thats a good idea, also I'm thinking about possibly stopping the swimming lessons for a while and taking him swimming myself more as he sees swimming as a real chore and doesn't enjoy it as its always lessonsSo, I may look into the idea of a tutor over the summer to help him "catch up" a bit with the others, I know he's only little and I'm not bein a competitive parent but his behaviour is affected by his frustrations at not being able to write/draw what he wants to get on the paper
