How can that be when mislaid27 keeps telling us that "TSB is well still Llloyds" :rotfl:0 -
TSB know you're an MSE'r, you probably made enough money from them from Classic Plus accounts and they're trying to get some back! How come then if TSB are the same why do TSB quote me a loan rate 19% and Lloyds quote me 4.2% and Halifax rate nearly on par with Lloyds.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.
ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.0 -
The TSB Android app is still like the old Lloyds app, where you have to put in User ID and Password before characters from the memorable info, whereas the Lloyds Android app has been changed so it remembers your login details and you only enter characters from the memorable info.
The iOS app remembers my TSB username and password I think...0 -

TSB is one bank, Lloyds is a different bank, and Halifax is another bank again. They're all different companies, but just happen to be using the same systems and have the same parent company.
Think of it like this. Both me and my brother speak English. We have the same parents. Ask me to borrow £10, I might say yes. Ask him, he might say no. No particular reason, he might just not like you. Or he might perceive you ask riskier than I do. Or any other reason.0 -

No longer true. Lloyds Banking Group own Lloyds Bank plc and the Bank of Scotland plc (Halifax being a brand of the BoS). TSB Bank plc is now owned by the TSB Banking Group plc, which was sold by Lloyds Banking Group last year and is now no longer part of Lloyds Banking Group.0 -
Lloyds Banking Group still own 50% of the TSB shares http://www.tsb.co.uk/investors/major-shareholders/. But TSB have their own Board which makes decisions independent of LBG.0

They are not the same bank.
EDIT: most of this stuff has already been said!!!!
Do you call Metro bank Barclays? Because they did at one time (I'm not sure if they still do) use Barclays for certain things. Payment processing etc.
The TSB system is a carbon copy of the Lloyds system, everything down to the mini statements you get from cash machines, although original TSB systems were never completely switched to Lloyds back when they merged. I have spoken to someone who used to work there in the computer department and that's what they told me. Some TSB systems are still operated by Lloyds but will become independent over time. They can hardly switch it off so it has to be done slowly. Most British banking systems use software which is from the 60's/70's, and its easier to leave it in place, the only thing they upgrade is the hardware, the software code is the same with bits stitched on to work with modern add ons, at least that is what I was told.
Even HSBC which took over Midlands many years ago have the IBAN code with MIDL at the beginning, not sure why but I would think because its easier to leave it as it is.
Lloyds has a new banking app, TSB does not. But you will notice the Lloyds, TSB, and Halifax online banking systems all look the same apart from the logos and colours. They are all carbon copy although Halifax is based at Lloyds system
Lloyds bank has set aside millions in the break off deal so TSB can build its own system should it ever need to in the future.
Lots of banks are owned by other banks, Natwest is owned by RBS for example. And just think of all the banks that have disappeard.0 -
Can I ask if TSB is a completely separate institution from Lloyds now? I want to set up an account at TSB but I don't want Lloyds to be able to access the account to offset my business loan with Lloyds .0
-
TSB cannot see or offset Lloyds accounts and Lloyds cannot see or offset TSB accounts. Both can see your entire CRA files.0
-
I can confirm that they are definitely not the same!
My local TSB (the branch itself) keep calling me up being all friendly and nice asking if I need any products and how I'm finding banking with them, and it doesn't get any better when I go in and they start calling me by my first name - it's all too good a service........ I don't like this new customer centric philosophy
