Iphone 5C

Hi!

I'm looking to buy an Iphone 5c but naturally I want the best possible deal I can get.
I want to buy the phone only - no contract or sim or monthly payment. Preferably in pink but the colour isn't a deal breaker. I'm really struggling to make sense of the cash back deals with topcashback and I feel like I'm going round in circles and getting no where.

Anybody here really good with these things? Can you give me some tips?

:) thanks

Hi, we move threads if we think they’ll get more help elsewhere (please read the forum rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board. If you have any questions about this policy please email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.

I’ve moved your thread from the ‘I wanna’ board to the ‘Mobile Phones’ board, where it is better suited.

I know GIFFGAFF have the 5C for £299 or if you want you can pay over 6,12,18,24 months.

    https://giffgaff.com/apple/apple-iphone-5c/phone-details

I got one of these and paid £100 upfront and now only pay £9.11 a month for the phone only, which is unlocked.

It seems giffgaff only have a cashback for sims at the moment

Giffgaff one is only 8gb storage, might be a little short on storage if you have a good few apps and music on there.

I'm pretty sure they only come in 8GB now.

£319 from Apple, so from Giffgaff you are saving £20

    MSE article: Top Cashback Sites

After 2.1% TCB it's ~£313 from Aplle directly, i.e. about the same as from Giffgaff if you aren't going to make use of the compulsory £12 topup.

If bought from Apple directly you benefit from a normal 2-years' warranty instead of pathetic 1 year if you buy from Giffgaff (or any other company). This is a very good reason to buy from Apple even if you pay a little extra.

a way around this is to order a free GIFFGAFF sim, dont need to top up and then order the phone through your GIFFGAFF account and as you already have a sim you dont need to purchase a goodiebag with the phone.

this is all i did, also i asked about warranty and it is 2 yrs the same as apple as this is one of the questions asked

this is the reply i got from them

    Hello *******,

Thanks for contacting Mike regarding your Inquiry. We understand your concern regarding the length of warranty compared to Apple.

With that said, The warranty on all our iPhones is the same 2 year warranty as you would get from Apple

    Kindest regards,

    Warranty with whom?
    It can't be with Apple.
If with Giffgaff, then they are a unique retailer offering 2 years for iPhones.

    ETA:

    Apple's warranty is 1 year.
Extra 1 year is what they call 'coverage' under 'Consumer Law' for the phones they sell directly: http://www.apple.com/uk/legal/statutory-warranty/ *

Good luck with enforcing 2 years that Giffgaff promised you...

    * This webpage has been changed recently. Now it says 5 years instead of 2. In practice, they repair/replace iPhones they sold, no questions asked, during the first 2 years. After two years you'll have to sue them - like any other supplier after 1 year. Giffgaff can be an exception, but it's really hard to believe in this.

Well that email i listed is all the reply i got, i would assume they mean manufacturers warranty which is 2 years through Apple
  • I think I might just buy direct from Apple as there aren't any great deals on. I'm actually with giffgaff at the moment and would stick with them

    Thanks for your help :)
