Aren't Bicycles Great.

Cycling to work has saved me about £1000 on transport costs over the past two years AND it's a great way to get fit without having to spend extra time and money on a gym membership. My commute is 10 miles each way, right through the heart of London - and it is just the best way to see the city, especially when the weather is good and mornings/evenings are light.0

I am instantly jealous.I'd love to ride to work. I may just have to bite the bullet and ride the 10 miles over hills and suchlike.

Ahhh, as a London cyclist I can only dream of hills (I realise that sounds quite sad). I'd recommend cycle-commuting to anyone, so go for it!0

I could have written the exact same thing only I've been doing it a bit longer.
My current route takes me pass the houses of Parliment and Downing Street. I absolutely love it. It makes me feel in touch with what's going on and every day there's something different going on.0 -
My route would take me along country lanes and through 3 villages and 2 towns.0

I can't imagine no hills. My rides usually average about 750ft of climb every 10 miles. My 'Fred' training is causing me to look for rides that have more than 1000ft elevation per 10 miles. Yesterday's ride had 3500 feet of climb over 25 miles. Just need now to build up the distance while maintaining the same ratio.Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.0 -
Well my rubbish single speed shopping bike has just about seen me through the worst of the winter mud and rain, all thanks to a two quid freewheel from the local bike shop, that enabled the pile of heavy steel bits to resemble a bike in function at least, for 700-800 miles.
Bikes can be great, can't they.0 -
Bike got me through one hell of a rainshower yesterday, hail, gusty winds too, had to keep going to avoid freezing to death. Got home utterly soaked, shoes part filled up with water. All in all, good fun.0

Good effort! I waited and waited for a decent weather window yesterday. Eventually got a couple of hours up some hills. Slow work in the wind, but all good Fred training.Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.0
