Hi all, love this thread, love my bike!
I live in the middle of nowhere. The nearest town (where I work) is 5 miles away. I cant cycle to work at the moment because I have to drop my eldest off for the school bus on the way. I do cycle into town on a weekend for shopping and there is something really satisfying about getting about on your own steam.
I thought about cycling to work in the school holidays last year but didnt do it. Maybe you have just inspired me.0 -

Just sold my old steel framed mountain bike i converted to use as a hybrid years ago.
The person is quite an amateur cyclist so should be a good stepping stone for them before getting something betterAll your base are belong to us.0 -
Gah! I ended up trying to take a "rural detour" across farmers' fields to avoid the A-roads today. Got chased by a dog for a mile (which made me lose my directions and end up wading through... and falling face-first... into a bog).
We might complain about the implementation of cycleways, but bridleways are just crazy. I walked into Sainsbury's with barely a stitch of fabric showing beneath the mud! I must've looked like some kind of swamp-monster!
I couldn't stop cursing under my breath at the time, but somehow... it was quite an adventure! I think I enjoyed it... :-D Always fun to explore!0 -

Yeah, that which doesn't destroy us, .......
You'll remember details of that adventure years after you've forgotten more mundane rides.0 -
Hah, changed my big rings to compacts today! Out went the 53/39 dogs and 12/26 cassette. Welcome the 50/34 compacts and an 11/28 granny cassette.
The little rings look rubbish, but I'll be climbing walls now!Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.0 -

Indeed, 15-26 lb of relatively inexpensive metal and rubber enables you to go 3-5 farther than you could walk/run. And all at hardly any extra cost.0 -
I enjoy my 6 mile commute to work (each way) by bike. Today I wanted a cycle ride and I wanted to go to !kea, so I cycled 9 miles each way and managed to fit the things I needed in my cycle panniers:j£1000 Emergency Fund #175 - £598/£1000
PAYDBX 16 #134 - £2139.00/£6961.85
