hi all,
i had success in reclaiming charges from abbey totaling £4130. since then i have been charged again several times, which hopefully means that they owe me more money  . when the case is over, and if we win will all the people who have been charged have to claim for their money back or will we get it back automatically? also shouldnt it be a quicker process!0 -
I recall Martin arguing this point on GMTV a few months ago.
His point was that if the banks lose the case then all the charges should be refunded automatically. However, he was extremely doubtful that would happen as the banks stand to lose so much money.
If I was you, I'd start making preparations for making another claim when the court case finishes and the OFT win !!Reclaims in progress:
Smile: Claimed £3124 Paid: £3124
First Direct: Claimed £8178 Paid: Court date 14th Aug
MBNA CC: Awaiting statements0 -
The hearing might finish soon but dont expect an answer for a very long time. There will be appeals to go through etc etc...
You will be lucky to see any refunds until later in the year at the earliest0 -

I mean it's not "real time" - by any stretch of the imagination; but it's better than nothing. Of course I'm sure the tips email is the place to watch though!

hello peeps i just wanted to ask a question......i had £4800 bank charges with halifax and last july i wrote and ask for them back they responded with a good goodwill gesture of £1200 which i accepted now im wondering if the courts say these charges are illegal then surely i am entitled to the amount they didnt pay back to me as they would have been wrong to charge me in the first place is this the case........many thanks.simon0

There has been a couple of articles on the bbc news website, the first of which said that the courts may shortly resume looking at bank charge cases:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7229085.stm
However the second article, which came out today, says the high court judge in charge of the current test case has suggested that claims should stay on hold for now (what a fool! ):
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7230466.stm
Does anyone have any thoughts on this, and what they think will happen in the short term? Before this first article, all the news I had read gave the impression we would be waiting many months before we could start claiming again..0 -
How is the case getting on, does anyone have any inside info? Do we have a spy or a mole???
Personally, I don't think the banks will get away with ripping us off, not if the government is really for the people and not for the corporate fat cats.0 -
The judge made it clear today that he would't be giving any advice to the County Courts about current stays until he hands down his judgement on the hearing, so the stays will remain until at least Easter.0
