I suspect the banks/OFT etc,. knew about the test case long before us. My claim was put into court in March and I was given a directions hearing date of 14 Aug - I received my stay notification from the court a couple of day before the proposed hearing!0

Can you reclaim bank charges if you haveclosed the account and no longer bank with that particular bank?
I have recently left First Direct (not only did I object on principle to them charging people on lower incomes for their services) but following on from reading this site i realised I was getting an abismal deal from them generally.0 -
I put in my claim for my bank charges in June 2007 - I got a letter in early August informing me of this hold. Considering the important day was July 27th should my claim have been dealt with anyway as it was at least a month before the deadline?
Who was the letter from only the court can impose a suspension of a case.As I am not the Pope or legally qualified I may be wrong so feel free to get a second opinion from a qualified person0 -
i have heard that in scotland a judge ruled that the test case for the reclaiming of bank charges did not apply here and that we should be still able to go ahead, is this the case? also can i claim charges from the yorkshire as they are not on test case list.
thanks,0 -
I have recently put a claim in for my bank charges and had a reply saying that all is on hold because of this OFT thing thats going on. Not really sure what to do whether to just sit and wait or carry on with my case. Is there anyone in the same boat and what do you recommend? If we wait are we going to loose out on our claim & will they reply if i do go ahead. Any advice would be appreciated!!!!0

I haven't been on here for a while now. I've had a letter a while ago saying the bank - natwest - can't deal with my reclaim request due to the OFT proceedings.
- Have these proceedings come to fruition yet?
- if not what are people doing in the meantime?0 -
Martin's Emergency Guide is kept updated as to what is happening, you can read it here...

I successfully claimed for overdraft charges received my money back from the bank,
Now after going overdrawn again the are charging me again.
They say once they have reversed the charges one time they cannot do so again.
Have i signed a a deal with the devil and am unable to claim again or what ??
I realise the impending court case is coming up next year ( i am in scotland does this make a difference )0 -

You can claim as many times as you want.
But the bank will throw you out, and you will have to wait until 2008, unless you are on benefits.0 -
Anyone else noticed how harsh banks have now become? If you complain they simply state we are to wait for the "decision" - yet they are really being mean. I have just had another charge put on me for £50 for a so called £10 cheque!!! I am really financially strapped, they are so mean.
Thousands of us also stuck in the tax credit fiasco with the clawback that also make the problem worse!!
Anyone else suffering with tax credits see
