Hello
Just for everyone's information, I filled the forms in at 4.45 on Thursday, she said they would go "in the bag" to head office that evening, the money was in my account Monday, very efficient.
thanks

Thanks original poster for this thread.
My darling mum passed away last year in August 2015. I have been putting off completing the probate and inheritance tax forms for months, just because it makes me feel sad that I am accepting this money in replacement of her. I know it sounds silly, it's hard to explain really.
Anyway, i have been filling out the forms bit by bit over months but I finally mustered up the courage tonight to try and complete them. I've been up all night! it's 5.39am now!! There's a few questions i have and i need to call the helpline and ask later, but i should be ready to post the forms on on Saturday as I need my brother (fellow executor) to sign later tonight when he's back from work.
We intend to swear on oath at our local solicitors. I was wondering whether to send my forms to London or Ipswich (we live in Essex), and after reading this thread i think i'll send them to Ipswich. I wanted to know which one had the quickest turnover as I'm keen to get the process over and done with as soon as poss really, and not draw it out. Fortunately it's quite a straight forward will with various bank accounts and some stock and shares - everything going to our Dad.
I'll keep you all updated on the timescale... especially for anyone else in the future who stumbles across this may find it helpful.

Another question - as i mentioned all of mum's estate will go to my father as stated in her will. Me and my brother are the executors. When probate is granted, with the money in her account, does that go direct to dad or does it go via us? If so, would we need to open a special joint account?
Thanks in advance0 -
The assets can go straigh to a beneficiary, just keep an inventory and account that details the assets and where they went.
if any inconvenience with both of you having to sign stuff
why bother with both of you being executors would be easier if one took power reserved.0
