Probate Interview

Can someone tell me please if you go to the Probate Registry to swear the oath what are the forms of identification they require?
Thanks0 -
If you go to the probate court you don't need ID. I had to do that rather than swear at a solicitors as I don't have ID. All was well.

Thanks and that is good news.
I thought that others on here had said that when they got their papers back from the Probate Registry they included the oath that had to be sworn together with a checklist of things they had to take if they were to going to swear the oath at the Probate Registry and the checklist included forms of ID.
This is why I asked.0 -
I'm pleased it is god news
IIRC, I got papers back from the Registry court that I had applied to saying I could either go to them, or go to a solicitor. The letter did mention that ID might be needed at a solicitor and also that it might be a while before I could be fitted in at the court.
So first of all I phoned around local solicitors who could do it at the drop of a hat, but wanted photographic driving licence or a passport. Neither of which I have. So I phoned the court to see what they wanted and they said they didn't need any ID, and that they had a slot for me the next week. so, THAT bit of it worked well. The fact that my mother had signed and filled in two seperate codicils on the same day did arouse suspicion and that had to be investigated ..... I still don't understand that bit but it's sorted now.
TBH, I'm amazed at how much still goes on trust. All those figures for the valuation don't have to be shown or justified, you just swear it's true. the bloke I was talking to about this when I phoned to see if we had to wait for the final tax figures to come through said that as so few estates are due for Inheritance Tax, it would be a waste of money to check everything. I suspect there must be some random checks for auditing but had I known how non-rigerous they are on checking the figures we wouldn't have angsted over getting the last details on the contents valuation and everything.
Check list of things to take? I didn't take ANYTHING at all, just me and my Oyster Card. All this was earlier this year, around may or June, so quite recent.

Thanks.
I am waiting for my papers and oath to come from the London Probate Registry.
They say it will be 2 weeks.0 -
Ipswich was around two weeks in getting the papers out to me. I'm joint executor and my partner did the oath at a solicitors office for £7.00 and I did mine at the local court. Probate shouldn't take more than a couple of weeks to be granted, so fingers crossed.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

I swore the oath at a local solicitors on 18th August, sent it straight back and got probate on 18th September.0

Ipswich got the Oath paperwork back to us within a couple of days of submitting the forms... (IHT 205, 217 etc.,).
Executed the oath at a Solicitors in the same week and returned it on Monday (wanted to make copies, otherwise could have posted back on the Friday).
They've cashed the cheque.
Now waiting on the Grant... = 'up to 2 weeks' I was told by them.0 -
I was going to ask the same question OP, so thank you!0
