A card is not required for this purpose and it gives the supplier power to take money out of your account at will in a way that can be difficult to stop as other posts on this forum show.
Do not deal with any company that insists on your card details rather than a direct debit authorisation for monthly payments as DD can be cancelled by you at any time (if the need arises).
The are NOT taking the card details to set up DD, it is an authorisation process to take first payment via a CC/DC. ALL major providers will ask for this.0 -

You will still have to make a pre-authorisation payment through the card for £1 or £2.50 which they process to do security checks and the payment is then refunded to the card.
Still waiting for the answer to my question by the wayIt's not just about the money0 -
Nope wrong again, if there is an up-front payment required you can pay that by other means.

i suggest you stop attacking me as earlier i statedOP i am sure tesco mobile will take cash for an initial payment,
which you WRONGLY stated i was wrong and not you are saying the same thing , but because you say it then it is not correct.
this is just you being a pain and attacking me at every post which is reported to forum admins.0 -

You said Tesco will take cash for the initial payment implying the OP would get a contract without a CC/DC
I said no because they have to have a CC/DC to take a pre-authorisation payment.
You then said you then said it's a process to take the first payment via CC/DC
You were wrong again because as I pointed out, if they require an up front payment this can be paid by any means.
I then went on to explain what a pre-authorisation payment was and you still failed to grasp itthis is just you being a pain and attacking me at every post which is reported to forum admins.

What is a debit account?balletshoes wrote: »is the deal a contract? if your cashcard isn't on a debit account, how will you set up direct debits for your monthly contract payments? Have you tried asking carphonewarehouse online? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
