Catalogue debt - shouldn't even be in my name?

Hi everyone, I'm new to this so I'm sorry if it's not in the right thread.
Basically I moved out for university 5 years ago and returned home 2 years ago. My sister had opened 4 catalogues all in my name, and I didn't even know about it until I returned and saw all of the letters demanding money. How is it even right that she should be able to open something so easily in my name, nevermind 4 times? Now I just ignored it cos I was angry and it weren't mine. But now obviously, it is actually my debt. Struggling to get any kind of credit and I'm trying for a mortgage. It's 1,900 worth of debt. She will not pay it back, is there no way of moving it into her name? Or am I just stuck with this now
Please help!

Phone the Police and report her for fraud or suck it up and keep paying for it...
Can you take the stuff that she purchased from the catalogs and sell them on the E Bay?"Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0 -
I wouldn't phone the police on her I don't dislike her that much haha I would just prefer for it to be in her name, but is that not possible? Nothing she bought will even be of any use anymore she basically furnished her bedroom with it. Non of its in good nick and the TV isn't even working completely. Looks like I'm stuck with it then?0

If you're not prepared to report her to the police then you're stuck with it. You can't just switch it into her name.
Bear in mind that she's trashed your credit report so you'll find it difficult to get credit for a while. I would report it to the police because of that rather than the money.0 -

Do you realise that your credit history most likely has been trashed by missed payments?I would just prefer for it to be in her name, but is that not possible?Nothing she bought will even be of any use anymore she basically furnished her bedroom with it. But she dislikes you enough to commit fraud and open numerous credit accounts and rack up £1900 worth of debt in your name....riiiiiiighhht !!
Yes, you will need to pay down your debt, if you have missed payments then your credit history will be trashed for 6 years."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0 -
If she agrees and admits the Fraud they may transfer the accounts into her name.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0

It is very serious for you - if you let her get away with it she may do it again in the future.
Someone fraudulently ordered things in my name from a catalogue - I phoned the company and told them I had not received these goods. Someone else had ordered and received them and faked my signature. It could have trashed my credit file, as no one was paying. I nearly got taken to court. She had moved into my flat after I moved out, and found my details from letters still being sent there. It was easy to prove. The catalogue company contacted the police when I told them the goods were not mine and I had not ordered them. It was simple as that. It was all removed from my name, quite rightly, and I think you should do the same.
As she is your sister you may feel differently, but you need to let the catalogue company know if you ever want this taken out of your name. They will involve the police.0 -
Obviously I don't find it funny, I just don't see myself reporting my sister to the police. I'm sure she probably would agree to it, she's just so bad with money that she's probably ruined her own credit rating then decided to try for these things in my name. Personally I don't think it should be allowed without sending in ID but it's done now.
But either way, do the police have to be notified for it to be in her name?0 -
Cant see the catalogue company agreeing to it with crime ref number at least. Sounds they are even less likely to get her to pay than you so not in their interest to have it transferred. Not even sure its possible to transfer to be honest. I doubt you can make it happen.Still rolling rolling rolling......
