I assume you obviously realise unless the problem is resolved you will never be able to view freesat.0

I understand this is MSE but for £30 some one will come to your property with the correct tools and test equipment, saving you a lot of wasted time.
They will fix and replace any u/s hardware and if needed correctly realign you dish for best signal and lessen any effect of rain fade, that you will have with a with a dubious at best DIY dish alignment.
Utter bargain.0 -
I thought I'd been really clear in my posts to date, but it seems there was some room for misunderstanding. Sky is rarely used, and not worth spending money on in my house. My kids watch the odd tv show - I rarely go near the thing at all. I have never been bothered about freesat - when I ditch the sky subscribtion I will ditch the lot, box and all.
If I suggested to you that for £30 you could have something that you aren't bothered about having, would it really be a bargain? The only reason I was looking into getting the box up and running again was that it feels like a waste of £5 a month from now until August - paying an additional £30 on top of that charge would be throwing good money after bad!!
As it is - I spent about 5 minutes earlier in the week playing with the settings menus on the box, I then spent 5 minutes today up a ladder.
My sky service is working now.
Thanks to all who offered helpful suggestions.
To those that think £30 was more of a bargain than 10 minutes of my time, I think perhaps you need to hang around these forums a bit more, as in my book that's not exactly money saving0 -
